Donald Trump and US expansionism in North America

Indeed. He would see the writing on the wall that a separate economy is emerging away from the USD so he's looking to hedge.
Canada’s politics have become more opposed to America’s. Compounded with foreign influence from their immigrant community and trade deals. Carney’s cozying up to China is par for the course. Canada will pose a security threat to the U.S. if they continue down this path.

I don’t advocate invasion or annexation of Canada. They are at their core too different to assimilate. The difference between choosing to rebel and remain subjects in the 1770s. Nor should we spill blood and spend treasure lightly. Ottawa must be on the same page as the America terms of foreign policy. Especially since they’ve let their military atrophy under the umbrella of American defense spending.

Recent example is Trump’s attack on the UK for handing the Chagos islands over to Mauritius. It’s a mistake driven by British courts upholding an ICJ decision that the UK has a duty to return the Chagos to Mauritius. Mauritius was in the past a British colony. Nominally there’s a guarantee to operate Diego Garcia under lease for 99 years. Not having total control over the land we’re using puts US operations in the Indian Ocean at risk. And that risk is created by the UK. And it’s no longer the UK that is securing the Indian Ocean. Regardless of anyone’s opinions on how the U.S. military should be used, it’s a mistake to hand over those islands.

The problem isn't Diego Garcia itself, but the area around it. The entire Chagos archipelago is a restricted zone - no commercial activity, like fishing, is allowed there. Brits established there a nature reserve to keep ships (and people) away from the base, but the government of Mauritius won't be obliged to keep it that way (even if they honor the base lease) and could open the area to economic development, for example granting access to the Chinese fishing fleet, which would put potential spies/saboteurs next to the base.

Retaliate with what ?
Denmark as an individual state - Americas shortest and dumbest war. They’ll make a Lego set out of it in the future.

Europe as a block and doing combined arms - especially if France is involved - this is going to be ugly and extremely brutal. Considering we got a treaty from 1945 which gives us the run of the place, this seems like it’s some sort of old people lunacy. When people get too old they sometimes go crazy. We used to be more active in Greenland and we’re allowed to be more active again. Also the people don’t want to be American, they’re happy with the EU. What the locals want should be a factor. Remember, that’s why we despise the left so much.

Some historical context for Greenland. Apparently Denmark tried selling it to the US before (1900s) but the US didn't want it and took the Virgin Islands instead.

Though Danish leaders today imply that the idea of selling sovereignty is out of touch with their national values, the country has a long history of doing just that. In 1845, the king of Denmark accepted millions of rupees from the East India Co. to transfer control over multiple Danish hubs in India. In the early 1900s, Denmark’s leadership, despairing over the loss of Schleswig-Holstein to Bismarck’s Prussia, floated a possible sale of Greenland to the U.S. The U.S. didn’t agree but in January 1917 paid $25 million to Denmark for another remote Danish possession of strategic importance—now the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Denmark should just sell that stupid ice block. It will probably be the best deal they ever made. They spend 600M per year in that shithole. Why Trump wants to foot the bill is a surprise. He could just deploy soldiers and give a cut to danes to whatever is there. Maybe he wants to do some orange juices. If he is so interested in Europe. I have some real estate I can sell to Trump in Europe. Its not an ice block. Buy me Mr Trump. Also instead of sending his retards all over the world he could use US ambassadors. They are there for a reason. Someone inform Trump that ambassadors are not in a country just for cocktails parties.

Was having lunch with my kid and in the end you cant fault Trump. He is trying to leave the next generations of americans more estate. Which coming from this generations of losers boomers. Which até giving away all wealth for free. Its actually a positive. He could have chosen something relevant. Like taking back not only hongkong but the richest parts of China. Instead of a stupid ice block from an ally. Keeping Taiwan. Regardless what he is doing has merit. You have to give it to him. The idea is good. The target is retarded. And the strategy there are gipsies in fairs with better strategy. The principle is controlling not owning. Cause owning brings risk.

US ambassador for sweden:

Experience in drilling gas.

For denmark

A venture capitalist????

Ive been to denmark. Hated it. They have a hippie city in the middle of copenhagen. One of the faggest countries ive been. Finland was worse. Sweden is nice. Norway girls were the best looking. Roosh wrote about jung law. Or something like that. Copenhagen had a nice harbor.

It's such a massive turn-off that he blabs stuff like this in public to no one's benefit.
Yeah. It's occurred to me, with no diplomatic experience whatsoever, that it might be true that it would be great for the USA to aquire Greenland but that for whatever reason the Trump administration attempted it in the stupidest way possible. Publically, they needed to offer each Greenlander at least 2m USD and also come up with a long list of concrete reasons and guarantees as to why it would be beneficial to them. Then if threatening and cajoling Denmark and even the entire EU was necessary, that all could have been done behind closed doors.

LOL...are they gonna buy 10 tiny "Guantanamo bay" style pockets of land across Greenland ??!!

Edit...looks like they are

If Greentanamo means we don't have to give citizenship to 57K Eskimos, and later deal with Trudeau-Kamloops-burial-ground-esque false claims about sterilization the Danes may have done, then maybe it all worked out for the best.

Better to have 57,000 Eskimos, than 57,000 africans or indians,
However if Trump is just buying a few plots of land on Greenland to turn into mini US fortified territories then the discussion of the island native population is moot anyway.

Eskimos are non violent and like to be left alone on the ice, be more worried about the millions of Indians incoming buying up all hotels to house more Indians.
