Christianity In The USA

With the general American public you see a lot more Catholic to Protestant conversions rather than vice versa, but in elite conservative circles you'll see there's a bit more of Protestant to Catholic conversions. JD Vance is a prime example:

Perhaps because elites tend to move towards institutions. So they'd move towards more institutional Churches. Things can be built to last and things can be stable with institutions behind them. You can build beautiful things. But this eventually comes at the cost of a loss of authenticity. People mistake the institution for the thing that is greater behind it. The lower classes, sense loss of authenticity more than elite people because they are less exposed to making moral compromises for whatever is perceived to be beautiful, (or simply for convenience or more comfort). So the general populace moves towards the simple, less institution, or no institution in their Churches. That would be Protestant churches. But it can come at the cost of stability.

This isn't surprising to me. If your primary focus is politics, Protestant theology doesn't lends itself as easily to that end as the sacralist churches do.

One of the things mentioned in the article was that Catholics have done a better job of building up institutions such as top tier universities with Georgetown as an example. Liberty University doesn't compare to it.

Littlejohn thinks a big part of the problem is that conservative Protestants don’t have many of their own prestigious institutions in which to train up leaders. By contrast, conservative Catholics do.

Protestants once dominated positions of cultural leadership in America, but things began to change in the second half of the 20th century. Many Protestant institutions became theologically liberal, and conservatives either left or were ejected. They tried to start new, conservative institutions, but without much success.

“If you have these inherited institutions from generations of being in the majority, you don’t really know what it looks like to create a countercultural institution,” Littlejohn said.

He thinks Protestant institutions also failed to flourish because of an anti-intellectual streak that assumes people become liberal from “too much book learning.” Moreover, the dispensational eschatology held by many Protestants compounds the problem, according to Littlejohn. They think, “We’re not going to be around much longer. So what’s the point of creating another Princeton?”

Common people are more likely to believe the media narratives like the sex abuse scandals, to me it looks to be not as much about seeking God, but more like taking a stance in opposition to the Catholic Church. Some join the JWs just because they've grown to hate the CC for whatever reason. My pastor was once confronted by a woman who had became Protestant and whose brother is a priest. Elite people are more analytical, they will pause and think before they act.

Hey, I have a soft spot for the common people! I think I prefer folk religion, whatever culture of Christian it happens to be within. JWs is a stretch, but if you go about it retarded enough and don't ever really understand what it actually teaches you might be alright. It's true analytical people will usually think before they act (and sometimes that is good) but sometimes the gut is a better measure of truth.

I come here and I start thinking the tide is turning and people are starting to understand what these wars are really about. I talk to my friends and family people in my circle and they also understand what these wars are really about, some more than others but generally they do.

Then I go into the world and talk to acquaintances and it just seems nothing has changed, they are still falling for the same tricks. I talked to a casual friend of mine today at the gym and she said she had a party tonight with her Iranian friends they were celebrating and invited me to come. I told her that they should understand that this war isn't about them they are not even an afterthought in all of this, as someone whose parents are Christians from Iraq I know better than most that they have nothing to be celebrating. I mentioned israel and the true reason for the war and she became offended telling me they are better than "Islam", I told her how at least with Muslims I know what they are with jews they will deceive you every chance they get and hell the reason Muslim countries hate us in the first place is because of jews. She then proceeded to say something about "Gods chosen people" and that's when I changed the subject. Since then she's been texting me Christian themed videos about how we're supposed to protect the jews and israel according to god, I haven't watched a single one. This is a relatively young attractive staunchly conservative girl her parents are from Serbia....I was shocked to hear these things from her.

When this all started I was pissed, then I thought okay maybe this will be clean and serve a purpose but now it's not looking like that at all and I am pissed again.

^ I'm assuming this Serbian girl is an evangelical Protestant rather than Orthodox?

No she's Orthodox which is why me and her always got along and I went to her father's funeral recently they are traditional, she's just as conservative as I am and a really good kind girl. More as to why I was so shocked to hear what she was saying, especially being of immigrant parents there isn't any jew special victim indoctrination to get passed down.

That being said she apparently has these Iranian friends she is close to so I'm sure that is an influence and that's where this is coming from, but even still I feel like Iranians should know about jew tricks just as much if not more. Although it wouldn't be the first case I have encountered of western iranians who now support israel simply because they dont like the current regime in Iran. I should go to that party, she just asked me to come again....I would totally break all of their hearts with the reality of what it really means when the USA tears apart a country for the sake of israel. Nothing good is going to happen for them from this, it's actually the direct opposite....small groups are going to take power that hate them even more than the current regime does and their people are in for nothing but tragedy. We cheered when the USA went into Iraq just like them, turned out saddam was a saint towards the Christians compared to those that Obama allowed to gain power.

Edited to add pic, I just shouldn't have responded...IMG_3627.jpeg

Do I have a wrong Bible? Cause mine doesn't say anything about protecting a country established in 1948.

I noticed that she has had no counter argument when you told her that modern Jews aren't the same as the biblical Israelites. From what I could make out in her response seems like she basically just went into some programmed thought loop that is typically heard from some American megachurch type of Christian. She doesn't seem to realize that her thought loop is reliant on modern Israel being the equivalent of ancient Israel which is what you were arguing against in the first place.

Why are you arguing with a girl ?
Totally pointless waste of energy that never gets a man anywhere.

Yep, that's when she started sending me videos and I stopped responding. Honestly it makes me sad, she's a really great girl I never would have expected it from her. Met her during covid when I found a gym that didn't care about covid restrictions, she was all about everything we talk about here in regards to that and she's a high school gym teacher she regularly tells me how she can't tolerate her fellow teachers and the entitled children from crap liberal parents. I would like to give her the benefit of the doubt and just say her iranian friends are influencing this.....
