Really long story short Ferrari is totaled out! Actually a good thing as I wanted to upgrade anyway and now I don't have to deal with the disaster of selling a Ferrari!

I would like a 458 but I need patience for the right one at the right price. But spring is coming and in the mean time I'm thinking of breaking my rules of staying away from German disasters on wheels but I'm thinking an AMG GTS in the meantime. The early models appear to be at the bottom of their depreciation curve and I actually have a Benz specialist in the family who would do anything for me and knows the cars well.

Gonna start shopping...wish it were a hardtop convertible though, I really really liked that on the Cali. Didn't realize I wanted a convertible until I got one.
 
You accidentally reminded how much I liked this design, even though I was never a fan of Mercedes. If I ever had spare money and all my family and local community were doing fine, I would have gotten this one:

Shockingly my insurance came back with a really nice number for the car and that's before I gave them the sticker with the options and all my recent maintenance on her. So they're going to come back with a new number and I'm going to send that over to an adjuster to squeeze out some more.

Might end up being a pretty nice summer!

Went and test drove that AMG GTS last week, the local Porsche dealer had a 2020 with 8k miles.

The thing was really tight but that's alright I actually didn't mind that, it looks smaller on the outside that my California which was odd because it's longer....just the design I guess, very pretty car nonetheless. It also had more buttons than a fighter jet but that's fine too I'm sure I would have gotten used to them and the interior was very nice, very nice materials, fit and finish.

The real problem was that it drove like it had wooden wheels. It was the roughest riding vehicle I've ever driven, the California was a cloud compared to it which I found shocking. To the point where I thought there was something wrong with it but I did some research and apparently that is normal. With Michigan roads it's a deal breaker for me, I'm not looking for a race car I have to be able to actually enjoy driving the thing instead of worrying about my fillings coming loose.

Stinks but oh well, guess I'll just keep looking for a 458 and be patient.

They were sold briefly in the early- to mid-80s in Canada. The model 130 was a rear-wheel drive, air-cooled, rear-engined 4 door sedan. I know someone that had one: snowy roads meant being in the ditch was a common occurrence.

It seems they became a part of Volkswagen AG in the 90s, and they're producing some pretty sharp looking vehicles:

Well now, what a situation I find myself in. I drive (or used to) a very boring but practical vw tiguan. Was leaving my house yesterday and my neighbour somehow reversed into me. Two panels damaged, door caved in, all the airbags deployed on that side etc.

I am certain they will write the car off rather than repair it. This leaves me in an excellent situation that I can change the boring old car for something much, much more interesting.

Main criteria is that it's 4wd, has cruise and bluetook connectivity. Currently leaving towards old e class Mercedes for the full wafting along experience. But there is so much choice!
 
BMW e30 is my biggest regret selling. Should never have sold that. I love BMW. Definitely my favourite.

I've owned at least 20+ vehicles in my life, mostly European. Though had some incredible Toyota Corollas - always recommend that brand to everyone. So reliable. Such great engineering. You can't argue against Toyota.

I always fixed my cars, drove them, fell in love.... and then sold them.
Next biggest regret was a VW Mk 1 Golf, I purchased for $500... then fixed the rust.
Always too young to understand what I had.

Youth is wasted on the young but plenty of great memories in those cars.
