Chinese bulker 'Ang Yang-2" run aground near Sakhalin in the Russian Far East.

Local authorities declared a state of emergency, and are preparing to pump out the fuel.

The Chinese vessel is carrying 1,000 tons of coal, 50 tons of diesel fuel and 700 tons of fuel oil, according to the Sakhalin transportation ministry. Booms are being installed around the vessel to prevent any possible spillage, the ministry said citing the regional governor Valery Limarenko.

The fires have been put down, and both vessels remain afloat. Unfortunately, despite early reports, one of the sailors from "Solong" is missing, presumed dead. Local authorities arrested Solong's captain, a Russian citizen Vladimir Motin.

A Mexican Navy tall ship "Cuauhtémoc" collided with the Brooklyn Bridge. 2 sailors have died and 19 more were injured.

The bridge was temporarily shut down for inspection, but it was already reopened so it didn't suffer any structural damage.

I wouldn't be surprised if a couple more sailors* died - in front of a firing squad.

*and by "sailors", I'm including whoever was captain on board
