Accidents thread

A Mexican Navy tall ship "Cuauhtémoc" collided with the Brooklyn Bridge. 2 sailors have died and 19 more were injured.

The bridge was temporarily shut down for inspection, but it was already reopened so it didn't suffer any structural damage.

I wouldn't be surprised if a couple more sailors* died - in front of a firing squad.

*and by "sailors", I'm including whoever was captain on board

Meanwhile in Norway, a container ship "NCL Salten" ran aground right next to a small cabin. No one was hurt, the homeowner slept through the incident.

"NCL Salten" was successfully towed away.

Local authorities arrested the ship's second officer, a Ukrainian citizen who admittedly fell asleep on watch.

Car carrier "Morning Midas" carrying hundreds of EVs from China to Mexico caught fire in the Northern Pacific, 300 miles off the coast of Alaska. The crew abandoned the ship and was picked up by a nearby merchant vessel. USCG is responding.

Meanwhile off the coast of India, a container ship "WAN HAI 503" is on fire. 18 sailors evacuated on lifeboats, 4 remain missing.
