The speed of progress is astounding. Our entire conception of audiovisual media is about to undergo a paradigm shift. The idea of building elaborate sets, hiring actors and filming them with a camera will soon seem as antiquated to us as the horse and buggy. This is a profound and utterly game-changing technology that is going to impact society to the same - if not greater - degree as electricity, the automobile and the internet. The most incredible thing is that you still see people dismissing AI as some sort of gimmick or parlor trick. At this point, anyone dismissing the power of AI (for both good and ill) is frankly either delusional, oblivious or in a state of willful denial. This technology is going to touch literally every aspect of society, and will utterly transform most of them (i.e. I already mentioned how it will revolutionize audiovisual production, but the impacts to fields like education, healthcare and software development will be equally if not more profound).
If you're a parent, it's incumbent upon you to ensure that your children walk the fine line of being able to utilize this technology without becoming reliant and/or enslaved to it. Because AI is at once the greatest educational tool ever created, and the fastest way to turn someone's brain to mush - through lack of use (outsourcing thinking to the AI) and consumption of endless amounts of custom-generated slop entertainment (coming soon).
