Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence Thread

What's more surprising that he claims to be an atheist and materialist. But he doesn't blindly adhere to materialist dogma, and seemingly loves to troll. The "Cycles of Time" attempts to throw out one of the sacred cows of modern cosmology (which Penrose helped developing to a large extent), inflation, and it's almost as ugly as economic inflation.

What's your exposure to Penrose's works, if it's not too personal? Are you a mathematician?

I've never heard Penrose call himself an atheist? He's more on the fence I would say. I have a biology background from a long way back, but like to think of myself as an old fashioned naturalist; (not a naturist mind you) Someone who studies nature broadly and is not stuck in one-directional thinking.

Don't quote me on this, but as far as I remember, he used "I'm an atheist" as a deflection when asked whether he is Jewish (he has some ancestry from Polish and Russian Jews, but not enough that he'd be considered a 'member of the tribe' before he won his Nobel). And in his books, including ones that go a great deal from pure mathematics and theoretical physics and into philosophy, he tactfully avoids the question of God's existence altogether.

I would describe him as more agnostic, but with an open mind. Not explicitly atheist.

All those old sci-fi movies forgot to mention that in the future we'll all be freedom hating fascists...

Saudi Arabia Revolutionizes Healthcare with First AI Doctor Clinic

A Chinese startup has launched the world’s first AI-powered clinic in Saudi Arabia, revolutionizing how patients receive medical care. Synyi AI, a Shanghai-based medical technology company, partnered with Almoosa Health Group to introduce this innovative trial program in Al-Ahsa. The clinic aims to replace human doctors as the first point of contact for diagnosing and treating patients.

Patients visiting the clinic interact with an AI doctor named “Dr. Hua” through a tablet, describing their symptoms in detail. The AI follows up with specific questions and analyzes medical data, such as X-rays and cardiograms, with assistance from human staff. After the consultation, Dr. Hua provides a treatment plan, which a human doctor reviews and approves. Human doctors remain available for emergencies that AI cannot handle.

Doctors are toast. If you have blood samples write them in Grok. I had some blood work done recently. And Grok gave me exactly the same solutions the doctor gave. In the second appointment I knew what he would ask for. My colesterol is bad. Time to fix it. A friend of mine when he has big lunches he takes a medicine and the fat is not absorbed and leaves through shit the next day. He only takes that shit when he is going to eat a lot. And it´s working for him. I might give it a go.

What will the elites do with the great mass of unwashed useless eaters? First UBI and after?

If Musk doesnt achieve interplanetary fast. Things will go really bad. Gates said there would be only 3 types of jobs left in the future:

- People who work in AI
- People who give emotional support to humans
- People working in electrical system.

I doubt this is true. Everything will be replaced by AI.

Btw the big pie now in Europe is in AI and defense industry. That´s where the parasites are all flocking.

The first "AI" generated TV shows and films are coming soon!
(Impressed that AI accurately depicted that women aren't funny btw)

This is absolutely the direction things are headed. With the availability of AI tools, the creation of visual media will soon be largely decentralized, much the same way that high quality indie computer games can nowadays be created by small teams or individuals and widely distributed online (whoever creates the Steam equivalent for indie filmmakers will make a fortune). This will create the potential for a massive cultural shift, as content that was previously blocked by gatekeepers (read: Jews in Hollywood) will become freely available. For example, there is an incredible demand for high quality Christian entertainment that is massively underserved in the current film/TV market, and this market will undoubtedly be tapped by talented Christian filmmakers using cutting edge AI software. The same is true for nationalist/conservative visual media more generally. Basically, imagine an entire generation of young Mel Gibson writer/directors making movies with the help of AI. That's what we're looking at going forward. The potential for AI is really exciting in that regard.
The speed of progress is astounding. Our entire conception of audiovisual media is about to undergo a paradigm shift. The idea of building elaborate sets, hiring actors and filming them with a camera will soon seem as antiquated to us as the horse and buggy. This is a profound and utterly game-changing technology that is going to impact society to the same - if not greater - degree as electricity, the automobile and the internet. The most incredible thing is that you still see people dismissing AI as some sort of gimmick or parlor trick. At this point, anyone dismissing the power of AI (for both good and ill) is frankly either delusional, oblivious or in a state of willful denial. This technology is going to touch literally every aspect of society, and will utterly transform most of them (i.e. I already mentioned how it will revolutionize audiovisual production, but the impacts to fields like education, healthcare and software development will be equally if not more profound).

If you're a parent, it's incumbent upon you to ensure that your children walk the fine line of being able to utilize this technology without becoming reliant and/or enslaved to it. Because AI is at once the greatest educational tool ever created, and the fastest way to turn someone's brain to mush - through lack of use (outsourcing thinking to the AI) and consumption of endless amounts of custom-generated slop entertainment (coming soon).

I agree with most of that, but the decentralized part is a big question? From what I've seen so far the AI companies are both very centralized (well, they have to be with the current technology) and extremely prone to censor things. This could be a big problem. They are even going to war with the few open source generation software tools you can use if you have a powerful GPU, like Civitai.

They blame things like kiddie-porn, but I don't buy it, as they censor even political and race related content. The AI companies blame the credit card companies, who are in turn beholden to big-Gov, and they want control. How can we escape this dynamic, I don't know...(Chinese AI is a bit less censorship prone, like Kling and Hailuo, but not by much)

The Natasha neural network turned out to be 700 Indian programmers.

The startup BuilderAI offered to write any application, like in a constructor, by selecting the necessary functions.

In reality, customer requests were sent to the Indian office, where 700 Indians wrote code instead of AI.

With the help of this scam, the startup attracted $445 million in investments from major IT giants, including Microsoft, over eight years.

At the same time, the applications “written by AI” constantly glitched, the code was unreadable, the functions did not work — in general, everything was like real artificial intelligence.

After the deception was exposed, the startup officially went bankrupt.

Bankrupt Microsoft-Backed 'AI' Company Was Using Indian Engineers To Fake It: Report
Last week, British AI startup backed by Microsoft and the Qatar Investment Authority, Builder.ai, filed for bankruptcy after its CEO said a major creditor had seized most of its cash.

Valued at $1.5 billion after a $445 million investment by Microsoft, the company claimed to leverage artificial intelligence to generate custom apps in 'days or weeks,' which would produce functional code that had less human involvement.

Now they've gone cloth-off... as Bloomberg reports they had a 'fake it till you make it' strategy while having inflated 2024 revenue projections by 300%. Instead of AI, the company was actually using a fleet of more than 700 Indian engineers from social media startup VerSe Innovation for years to actually write the code.

Requests for custom apps were based on pre-built templates and later customized through human labor to tailor the requests sent to the company - whose demos and promotional materials misrepresented the role of AI.

According to Bloomberg, Builder.ai and VerSe Innovation 'routinely billed one another for roughly the same amounts between 2021 and 2024,' in an alleged practice known as "round-tripping" that people said Builder.ai used to inflate revenue figures that were then presented to investors. In several cases, products and services weren't actually rendered for these payments.

Builder.ai collected close to $60 million in revenue from VerSe in the four-year period for services such as application development, according to people with knowledge of the situation. In turn, the AI startup sent funds to VerSe and its subsidiary, Quark Media Tech, for services such as marketing, the documents show. The two companies appear to have interspersed the timing and amount of the invoices to avoid suspicion, though each firm ultimately spent approximately the same amount, according to the people and documents. -Bloomberg

VerSe cofounder Umang Bedi said the claims are "absolutely baseless and false," adding "We’re not the kind of company that is in the business of inflating revenues," and insisting that the accusations of round tripping are "defamatory and irresponsible."

The company is now under investigation by US and UK authorities.

Last week, Bloomberg reported that Viola Credit - which provided $50 million in debt to the software firm last year, had seized $37 million from Builder.ai's accounts - leaving the company with just $5 million, CEO Manpreet Ratia said in a Tuesday interview, where he announced the decision to let go most of Builder.ai's employees, and said that the $5 million is located in Indian accounts and could not be accessed to pay workers due to restrictions on the movement of money out of the country.

The proceedings mark a stunning fall from grace for a company that two years ago raised a $250 million funding round led by QIA, one of the world’s biggest sovereign wealth funds. Microsoft also made an equity investment in 2023 as part of a strategic partnership. Less than two months ago, Builder.ai confirmed to Bloomberg News that it had been forced to lower sales estimates provided to investors and had hired auditors to examine two years of accounts. This came in response to questions from Bloomberg about former employees’ concerns that the company inflated sales figures. -Bloomberg

The company's deception was first suggested in 2019 in a WSJ report that questioned the company's AI claims - revealing that the platform relied heavily on human contractors, with several former employees describing the operation as "all engineer, no AI," with most of that work being done manually by staff in India.

If Trump wants to do something valuable in this area, he should try to force AI companies and social media platforms etc. to abide by the first amendment! We had the same problem during Covid, and just in general. These are the new main outlets of human expression, and they are extremely heavily censored at the moment. It's and obvious thing to try and handle! You can't be allowed to censor anything on these platforms that are not beyond the established limits of the constitution. (Which are not very limiting.)
