Weird Things You've Noticed Recently

Anyone else out of no-where getting left leaning YouTube video algorithms? Seems like it just started today (2/6). For last “x” number of years, I got mostly conservative videos. Not sure what flipped if it’s just my feed or others noticing this.
They've been doing this thing for a few years where if they detect that you're being "radicalized", they start recommending you content that they have classified as "deradicalizing". This includes not only left-leaning nonsense, but also people like Shapiro and Peterson. If they can't get you to be a leftist, they'll try to at least make you a milquetoast Zionist "conservative".

The reason they're doing this is pretty straightforward. Remember almost a decade ago when the media was whining about the "alt-right radicalization pipeline"? The idea was that people, and especially young men, were stumbling upon slightly right-wing things, like "SJW meltdown compilations", and then getting recommended content which was further and further to the right, until eventually they were reading the Daily Stormer.

The media was, in fact, 100% right about that. This pipeline led a lot of people to the truth. They now very aggressively crack down on this pipeline on platforms like YouTube, and one of the main reasons why they wanted to shut TikTok down was because it absolutely did NOT crack down on it.

I noticed the same thing and the algorithm can be subversive and insidious. I bet most normies have no idea what’s happening.

There’s the blatant ‘de-radicalization’ content but also subtle content to make you think lefties are reasonable just like you. Reddit is trash, but I look at the home page a few times a month and it will recommend stuff like “Lib here, want to have constructive talk with MAGA voters”

Or it’ll show a video of what they believe is your demographic and red (example southern guy with an accent), but then he’ll be outlining all these anti Trump talking points in an attempt to convince you you’re wrong and your people really hate Trump.

It’s total manipulation and shows that these tech companies are still subverting people despite some progress made.
 
Also since Jan 20th I’ve seen a rise of what I call Trump demoralization content. It’s anti Trump content, but has the spin of trying to convince you he’s not really doing what he promised or anything at all.
Which is hilarious. If Trump wasn't doing anything at all then what are liberals crying for? From their perspective, if Trump was doing nothing then that's good. I've seen many fake stories of "my relative so and so was MAGA but now says the facsist is going to get us all killed." All lies.

I've noticed the expression "rest in power" on social media of late, so I finally looked it up.

As a leftist alternative in opposition to the traditional Christian phrase "rest in peace", "rest in power" suggests that even in death the deceased person has the power to make a difference to others. The phrase is a statement of solidarity and a call to continue the struggle for social justice, as the deceased person will not be able to 'rest in peace' until society itself is in peace. However, it also implies the hope that the deceased person can now rest, free from oppression. "Rest in power" can also be used for murder victims, especially if the case is left unresolved.

What a shock.

 
I’ve noticed this across multiple organizations and industries throughout my career…. when leadership is out of office, taking leave or business travel, they don’t let any of their subordinate report know they are out or offline. But they’ll tell their boss or others in leadership and the staff find out through others in leadership that their boss is not available. And somehow this is acceptable managerial practice. No idea how this is tolerated by their higher ups (unless they are at the top) as acceptable leadership behavior.

For most large corporations these days the people at the top of the organization are low IQ, lazy, narcissistic parasites. With a few exceptions the only large companies that aren't run by idiots these days are the founder led/family run companies. If the management at the top are lazy grifting parasites do you expect lower level management to be any better?
 
If you look at the stock market most of the top performing companies are all founder/family led companies. Amazon, Salesforce, Oracle, MicroStrategy, Berkshire Hathaway, Costco, Shopify, Meta, Alphabet, Walmart, Tesla, etc. Some of those aren't strictly "founder led" but they still have heavy founder influence e.g. founders with shareholdings who sit on the board of directors etc. Whereas you see a lot of the companies where the founders/family members are no longer involved get zombified. E.g. Disney has under performed for years and Apple's earnings per share have been static since 2021 and they haven't created any groundbreaking new products since Steve jobs died. Sometimes companies still manage to do well past the founder stage (e.g. Microsoft) but that is becoming an increasingly rarer occurrence given the degrading quality of corporate management employees over time.

Microsoft is really woke, but it has a lot people that genuinely love it's products and it's formed a monopoly, so many people that would normally found their own business instead try to fix Microsoft.

Essentially, it's like a parasite. Competition isn't just good for the free market, it's good for the soul. If you have nothing to compete with, why work hard and improve? It's a form of poverty of the heart.

I don't know about "love", it's just that there's no real alternatives around, or if there are, switching would be a complete nightmare. There's obviously compatibility issues and general tech debt, but also, can you imagine teaching 38 year old middle managers how to use Linux? Or any normie for that matter. They can barely write an email. You couldn't pay me to try and teach them.

This seems unsurprising to me. When the cat's away, the mice will play. In many cases, it's probably better for a manager to not announce and absence, or a return time, so his workers don't take the opportunity to slack off. This isn't true in all cases, but I can understand the impulse for managers to keep their plans to themselves.

I understand that, but managers should be part of the hiring process to make sure the people who work for them aren’t children or irresponsible. From a subordinate staff standpoint, not knowing whether to deliver a weekly report or briefing/meeting to your boss ends up as a waste of your time preparing for (because the boss then cancels the meeting last minute while sitting on a beach from the laptop or phone), is very disrespectful of people’s time. If a decision needs made or who has delegated authority while boss is absent is always a requirement for a functioning dept. in an organization. Not doing those things just shows narcissistic traits by the boss with disrespect to their staff.

This assumes that the manager himself is not a child or irresponsible. They often are. Very weak to flattery, too. Incompetent people are often good at flattery. I've only been in the workforce for a couple years and the amount of workplace drama involving managers I've already witnessed is just ridiculous. They often have a little clique and turn office dynamics into one big retarded game of politics.

I hate stupid drama and gossip, I just try to shut up and get along with everyone, so I usually don't notice the drama unless I get dragged into it for some idiotic reason or no reason. Which has happened multiple times.

I thought the adult world would be different to high school but it's the exact same thing. Life never stops being a high school popularity contest.

To be fair, that's not a problem you can easily solve.

Rules only work for civilised people. Just as how America's constitution was written for a Christian people, businesses can't operate successfully with bad management in most circumstances.

They'll keep moving for a certain amount of time.

The last person you want to be irresponsible is a person in a position of leadership. Furthermore, responsibility as a leader is different from personal responsibility.

Some people seem well ordered but would sell others out for quick cash. Others are scruffy, late and disordered, but love their co-workers and acquaintances enough they would take the fall if anything went wrong.

Part of the degradation of management that I have seen occur first hand over my working career is decreasing pay for junior managers to the point where its not financially worthwhile to be a manager and only people with narcissism and power complexes become managers.

Yes high level managers are still well paid but the pipeline to that position is problematic and weeds out all the worthwhile candidates.

I don't know for sure how it is in other countries (probably the same to be honest) but in Australia for most management positions they are salaried employees whereas at least in non office jobs the people below them are often paid hourly. The hourly people often have less strict bonus criteria and get paid overtime, weekend rates, night rates, etc. It used to be that the salary genuinely compensated you and then some but these days its just a scam to dupe low IQ people into becoming managers for rock bottom pay and working 50 - 60 hours while only getting paid 38 hours.

I have had many jobs in the past where I was paid more than my manager because I was hourly and I was doing overtime and weekends etc whereas my manager while collecting say $20,000 AUD more per year in base pay but did not get overtime, weekend rates, more difficult to get a bonus, etc. I ended up making more than them at the end of the year while not dealing with nonsense paperwork and bureaucracy.

In those jobs often the most skilled and experienced people refused promotions that were offered to them and people from outside the company with zero relevant experience were hired as managers. It wasn't always like this. For example in the same company where I worked highly capable and experienced veteran managers with 30 years experience were getting paid for example $120,000 AUD per year (because back in the day companies used to value managers more) then when that guy retired they hired some moron with zero experience or knowledge and paid them $80,000 per year and it caused a lot of problems. The problems caused by this idiocy cost them far more than the $40,000 they saved in salary but corporations these days only think of the next quarter not 30 years from now.

It also has second order effects because often the pool of people they promote to the next level of management is selected from this first tier of management and if the lower tier is filled with idiots due to low pay then the next tier up ends up being filled with idiots and then 20 years later you are in the situation we are in today where most large corporations are run by CEOs who are morons and only got to that position because they kissed the right peoples assess for 20 years.
 
"Child predator" vigilante justice videos have become increasingly popular. It seems to be a Gen Z fixation. Some of the videos are silly and pathetic, with a group of guys attacking some lonely 19-year-old boy who was waiting to meet with a girl whose age difference wasn't that significant.


I guess it depends on the state, in some states that age difference would be completely legal, but if this was done in California then what the 19 year old was trying to do is illegal, in which case the flogging is justified and they are doing him a favor. It is rather humorous to see blacks joyfully flogging someone they temporarily made their slave, but they could have done a lot worse to him. They should be going after real child predators and not this close-in-proximity teen stuff.
 
A weird thing I've noticed happening to me is my flagging ability to focus on intellectual topics. It's weird because I used to have immense interest in everything, as my handle indicates, but now I have no interest in anything. I was looking through unz.com's ebooks which were all on things I would have once-upon-a-time downloaded and read. I think it's because I increasingly feel like learning information for the sake of argument is pointless and so my brain is no longer curious about topics but actively rebels against them. I suppose now I'm the complete opposite to my handle. It's almost like a Flowers of Algernon situation except I'm not going retard.

I suspect some of it is due to overstimulation. I reduced my mental stimulation to mostly this site, but lately I've been getting into soccer and playing a co-op game with a friend, and now that I'm 40 I only have the energy for a few things. After 6pm I seem to be done, just incapable of sitting and enjoying a good book. This has never happened to me before, I used to be able to burn the midnight candle absorbing stuff. Has this happened to anyone else, where it's like you suddenly decide you're done trying to be intellectual and clear off your plate?

Yeah, same for me, but I don't exercise or sleep enough.

Though my current job is quite active, so I've gotten a bit better lately, and I'm sleeping better now that we don't live next to a motorway.
