Cars You Guys Are Into

This is the true cancer. To go forwards we will really have to go backwards to W123 mentality. Once again we fall back to The Lightbulb Conspiracy. The solution cannot be capitalism and it can't be WEF's psycho plan either. Whatever will replace the current market model Mark here is making very important points.

Maybe what's needed is a protectionist government that doesn't allow business to exploit the people of the nation where it operates, and one that simultaneously provides for a benevolent system of governance, perhaps some socialization of assets for infrastructure and health care, instead of a "law of the jungle" approach that capitalism eventually devolves into.

I'm close to pulling the trigger on a clean 1st gen 3000GT. I always wanted one of these and found a nice low mile white SL. Of course I'd rather have the VR4 but I already have 2 stupid fast cars I am just looking to get something else that looks cool to cruise around in. I found a rare 1999 3000GT 5 hours away two weeks ago and went to go buy it. The dealership knew I was driving 5 hours to get the car because I told them every time I talked to them including a update when I was on my way over that morning. Then I get there and the car is still shoved in the back of the lot and filthy..... not a great start but whatever. Then they inform me it needs a new alternator and they ordered one the previous night. So I drove 5 hours just for them to inform me it needed a new alternator. I just turned around and drove 5 hours home.

Damn, usually it's the seller that has to specify "no time wasters".

Great looking car tho'

Oh man what a car, what's the weak point on those....it was the transmission overall or the turbos if you add boost right? I think the 3000GT wasn't known so much for it's stoutness like some of the other ones It's been a while since I've looked into 90's jap cars I don't remember, I had a 93.5 TT Supra at one point so I used to be all over it.

Problem with those and a lot of the 90's collectible cars in general is that at one point they were $2500 cars and they were treated as such. Finding one in good shape is a unicorn and why they have skyrocketed, you were smart to be leery of it.

Beautiful cars.

Have you driven one before? Fair warning: The SL will feel sluggish. They make 220hp which is fine I guess, but the problem is the 3400lb curb weight combined with zero low end torque that makes it feel unresponsive. That was my take away after test driving an SL years back. They're also notoriously difficult to service and maintain.

They look great, but it will feel like driving a base model Nissan Altima compared to your c7 Vette.

Yea that's all of them the Supra, RX7, 300ZX, 3000GT.....the N/A versions are all just for looks and comfort. Camry is what they were going for....

Damn you got me before I was able to sneak in my edit haha

Yeah, I get it. I suppose the "GT" in 3000gt stands for Grand Tourer. I just remember feeling a bit underwhelmed. I remember driving a non turbo 5 speed 2nd gen Eclipse after the 3000gt and it felt like a rocket in comparison.

Oh yea the eclipse/talon was another one, good looking cars they ended up being the quintessential girls car for some reason.

They're all definitely underwhelming in their base forms, I hate to even say it but they are all a bit of a case of never meet your heroes even with the turbos. I always look back fondly on my Supra and romanticize it in my head for the short period I had it, I went to see one for sale a little while back that was a time capsule and compared to modern sport cars it was kinda slop.

The 2g Eclipse is the one. My fave of all the cars. This turbo 5-speed was my wingman for a long time back in the day. It's been sitting in this garage for about 12 years now while I trotted around the globe. I'm gonna put it back on the road at some point when the stars align.
