What are you listening to?

I’m a bit late to the party with DIIV, having only come across their music last year. With my formative years occurring in the grunge/shoegaze heyday, these guys seem to be the best at reviving that sound, yet making it their own.

Their whole album, Frog in Boiling Album, is all killer no filler.

Lyrics:

I expected, you know, from you
A "comme il faut" response
And instead nothing, instead, no
A punch in the face was better, I know
I expected, you know, from you
Something more, something that
It wasn't trivial
If it weren't the usual obvious "blah blah"
I congratulate you and
I'll leave you with your "gnè gnè"

Gnè gnè gnè, gnè gnè gnè, gnè gnè gnè gnè gnè
Gnè gnè gnè, gnè gnè gnè, gnè gnè gnè gnè gnè
Gnè gnè gnè, gnè gnè gnè, gnè gnè gnè gnè gnè
Gnè gnè gnè, gnè gnè, na nai nai nai nai

You had everything to please
Thin legs, a nice sit
Two big blue eyes, almost blue
Huge breasts, an angel's face, you
In every environment, a figuron
Smiles and envy in profusion
But what luck there
Taking someone like that to bed
But the conversation, alas
It was reduced to gné gné

I then saw you again on TV
Ten years later, maybe more
A calendar and you on top
Usual poses, a Déjà vu cliché
Tell us what your plans are.
Posing nude, but why?
Was it embarrassing or not?
There is now a boyfriend on the horizon
A studied pause and
You buried him with
"gnè gnè"

Gnè gnè gnè, gnè gnè gnè, gnè gnè gnè gnè gnè
Gnè gnè gnè, gnè gnè gnè, gnè gnè gnè gnè gnè
Gnè gnè gnè, gnè gnè gnè, gnè gnè gnè gnè gnè
Gnè gnè gnè, gnè gnè, na nai nai nai nai
Gnè gnè gnè, gnè gnè gnè, gnè gnè gnè gnè gnè
Gnè gnè gnè, gnè gnè gnè, gnè gnè gnè gnè gnè
Gnè gnè gnè, gnè gnè gnè, gnè gnè gnè gnè gnè
Gnè gnè gnè, gnè gnè, na nai nai nai nai
Gnè gnè gnè, gnè gnè, na nai nai nai nai
Gnè gnè gnè, gnè gnè, na nai nai nai nai

Giorgio Conte
I checked that he's Piedmontese. I first thought it was some Italian borderland dialect, maybe from the Monaco region, it even sounded a bit like Portuguese for a moment at the beginning.

For every day, every moment, every second, that I'm living

Thanks a million
