Trump needs to follow his MAGA base more faithfully.
There is little difference between chattel slavery and the exploitation of these workers by corporate America.
What the hell is he thinking? This was the worst possible thing he could have said, and the worst possible timing.
Right when the the ICE riots are making the opposition look bad, and the majority of the country are becoming pro mass deportation, he goes and drops this turd and sucks all the energy out of the room.

These aren't "mom and pop" farms that are hiring illegals... These are multi-billion dollar companies. It really is modern slave labor.

On the other side stood Stephen Miller and Tom Homan, architects of the administration’s strict immigration posture, who reportedly pushed back hard against the idea of letting any industry off the hook.
They won.
Trump decided to send them all back, no exceptions.

The real lie is that "all" our produce is picked by illegals when it's really a small percentage... If anything, Hispanic American farmworkers should be the ones supporting illegals getting kicked out. It totally goes against what Cesar Chavez fought for with the unionization of farmworkers etc, which was to fight against this kind of exploitation and mistreatment. Illegal labor, in every sector, depresses not only wages but benefits and especially workers compensation. Some employers hire illegals because they know they will be working in unsafe/unsanitary environments (slaughterhouses, for example) and don't want to pay to upgrade their facilities to code standards and/or also don't want to pay for anyone harmed while on the job.
These businesses don't want to sell off some of their yachts or foreign properties to pay legal Americans a living wage... same as any other industry, I guess.
