One very difficult lesson I learned in life, is that if you do nice things for people, not only are most not grateful, they become entitled.
"No good deed shall go unpunished."
Giving someone something they haven't truly earned not only makes them ungrateful and entitled, but it also makes them resentful. It's a weird psychology. You help someone and then they resent you. People deep down don't really want to be helped, they want to do it on their own. And so when someone who is doing better than them (both psychologically and/or financially) gives them money or an opportunity they don't really deserve, it breeds unconscious embarrassment which gives way to unconscious resentment/anger because no one likes to to be embarrassed. Those who are low IQ and living in poverty take freebies not realizing this dynamic. They gleefully take the freebie, then get angry at themselves for not being able to help themselves out of the dire situation that requires the freebie, and then they project that anger/resentment out towards the person (or country) who gave them the freebie.
