On call basically every week. I work mostly in the shadows. Under houses. Cleaning up sewage and other liquids of questionable origin. My closest friends are of the eight-legged variety.

I will be a custodian at the local ski resort this winter. Ski during the day then clean the lodge alone on swing shift.

People are so pathetic these days. One is avoiding my text messages because she won't take ownership of her screw-up, which is going to cost me hundreds of dollars. Another is trying to bill me for work when he wasn't even supposed to be working this week.
I've just had it with people. They seem especially bad post-Covid as many now seem to have a combination of apathy mixed with a complete loss of morals.

This probably sounds bad, but for the type of work I do I'd rather just work for the government. So places like the park district, local colleges, etc. Similar pay with amazing benefits and way less responsibility.

Had a guy the other day email me to say he wanted to cancel his service. 6 minutes later, he emails me again screaming at me, "Why can't I cancel my service!?!?" Then 3 minutes after that, he emails me again asking if my company is a scam.
Instead of exercising some patience, some people apparently feel the need to shout and scream like a maniac just so they can be sure they're heard.

I just had an interview with a landscaping company that does maintenance and construction. It's run by a husband and wife, and the employees are all regular white people. Pays well too. Not a way to get rich, but a solid middle class income.
It's nice to find places like this when everyone acts like only illegals will do this work, but it also depends on where you live. Landscaping is actually quite enjoyable compared to most jobs.

There's also a three year low voltage apprenticeship opening up soon. Kind of like a mix of electrical and IT work. Fire alarms, audio/video, security, etc. That can lead to really good money.
I'll be applying but electrical apprenticeships are not easy to get into. At least there's a better chance with low voltage than the regular electrical one.

I ended up taking this job. Start time is 8 am, instead of 5-6 am at the golf course. It will be nice to sleep in. And no weekends, which is one of the most annoying parts of golf course maintenance. Also a pay increase.
The construction side of landscaping is hard work, so hoping to get yoked.
