The Trump-Vance Administration (The People Who Work For Trump)

I'm convinced there is at least $1 trillion in spending that I would personally cut on sight.

Musk would have cut a lot more but it was all blocked by the courts. The only way to get cuts through is with Congress, who just ignored 80% of DOGE's recommended cuts.

It's not a surprise Musk feels burned right now, but I'm surprised he thinks Trump can do anything about it. Congress is it's own animal and Trump can barely control it.

The presidential power of veto of legislation passed by congress is a powerful tool though....

The Conservative TreeHouse predicted this would eventually happen.

TBH, I wasn't sure what to think of it initially back when he was making the case as I thought getting someone like Elon was a winning strategy (which is was). But now that things are playing out in this way, I am starting to have my doubts about what Elon's objectives are. He's coming off as a toddler throwing a tantrum about something under the cover of DOGE cuts -- but I suspect there is something else he is not getting.

If you are a long(ish) time reader of CTH, what we are witnessing is exactly what we said we would see unfold. And it is really good to see it happening now. I was not looking forward to this battle as the 2026 midterms came around, and I am thankful to our loving God for delivering it now.

The Musk, Theil, Sacks, Andreeson et al operation cannot succeed without: (A) a distracted President Trump not seeing their schemes; and (B) without JD Vance, who they positioned for installation of their interests.

Watch JD Vance in this dynamic through the prism that Vance is on team “Tech Bros.” That will be a big tell.

Remember, ultimately the goal is for the removal of President Trump no matter what that takes; and yes, the billionaire tech bros are willing to use their financial resources to upend the 2026 midterm election in order to achieve their larger objective, control retention over policy.

Edit.

White House insiders tell me & @reaganreese_ that the public breakup between Trump and Elon Musk was due to multiple factors beyond his opposition to the Big Beautiful Bill.

White House officials were already turning on Musk due to his insistence on behaving like Trump's co-president and making big asks on staffing decisions.

He later sparred with Speaker Johnson over EV credits in the BBB, despite public insistence that he opposed them.

Musk finally lit up on Trump several days after his pick for NASA admin was withdrawn by the admin.

One senior admin official described Musk's crash out to me as "a total fucking meltdown," while another said that they will not be distracted by his antics and are focused on getting the BBB passed through Congress.

Case in point...

A source tells me a retired @HSI_HQ agent and his family were attacked during a violent home invasion in Tijuana, Mexico on May 12–13.

Four men reportedly broke into their upscale home, tied them up, robbed them, and sexually assaulted the agent’s wife and teenage daughter while forcing him to watch.

There’s been no media coverage of the incident in Mexico or the U.S.

This horrifying case shows why @ICEgov and HSI agents often conceal their identities—to protect themselves and their families from targeted violence.
