It's very interesting that the major tech CEOs were front and center at Trump's inauguration. By all appearances, they're with Trump. Or is Trump with them? They obviously have their own agendas and are mostly concerned with making money. But this is such a shocking reversal from just a few years ago that you can't help but wonder what exactly is going on. By my estimation, they seem scared. It's like they know something is coming and they want to position themselves and their companies as advantageously as possible to survive it. Why do they all feel the need to be so transparently cozy with the incoming U.S. president? Is it really just a naked effort to curry favor? Are they hoping to avoid the wrath of Trump's DOJ and any investigations to their misdeeds during the shameful years of the Biden regime? Or is it something bigger than that? Do they feel a confrontation with China is coming, and that the best hope for the U.S. is to win that war is to essentially integrate the Silicon Valley elite into the executive branch? Or maybe their concern is with the advancement of AI, and a belief that the coming AI arms race can only be won by uniting the technical expertise of Big Tech with the bottomless resources of the U.S. government in a Manhattan Project style arrangement.
I honestly don't know what to make of it. But I think that years from now we'll look back on the tech CEOs presence there today as having been the harbinger of things to come.
