The power of forgivness

Something I learnt this year (it only took me half a lifetime) is that one profound way forgiveness happens is when we stop reliving events. It's easier said than done and not to say forgetting wrongs, but forgiving them. It takes practice. Jesus helps us further, by forgiving we in turn are forgiven.
Yes, I found this out years ago when I prayed for an enemy. I was spending all my time wound up inside over the enemy, and I finally ended up feeling that I should pray for my enemy. I sure didn't want to, but I gritted my teeth and prayed for him.

To my complete surprise, I wasn't upset about this enemy at all after that! It was a huge load off my mind. I didn't try to stop thinking about him. He was just suddenly off my radar and he no longer upset me, even when he still tried to be a dick.

I've never forgotten that this works, but I do still occasionally forget to apply it.
