Last night I was on a rabbit hole about evolution- about 3 am I found some random video mentioning Petra might be actual Mecca. And Mecca as we know it, was not Mohammad’s home. It may have been founded after a schism and the Kabbah was relocated there.

This kind of makes sense. Mecca is described as a great trade city. There’s not a lot of records about pre Islamic Mecca and many Qiblas face too far north.
