good question, and it’s important to note the difference between colloquial language and technical language. So according to this, the correct terminology when talking about a man having sex with a female 13 to 17 would be something like "Pederasts are disgusting sickos, who should be shot", but it would be wrong to call them a pedo?
Our language has evolved to equate men attracted to teens who have reached sexual maturity as “pedophiles”, which is a word meant for mean who like prepubescent children. The scientific definition is attraction to prepubescent children.
Feminists meanwhile are afraid of competition and want to shame attraction to younger women, so they will claim attraction to fully grown 17 year old girls is some sort of mental illness (and at the same time attraction to men as normal.)
This will have a domino effect of shaming older men being attracted to college aged women (“if you believe 18 year old girls are hot, then you would believe 17 is hot, and thus you’re some pedophile”).
Megyn Kelly is pointing out attraction to teens is not pedophilia, but wrong to act upon, which is a reasonable middle ground, but people don’t like this because it makes it seems less bad to act upon (which it is, but people watch a bunch of Chris Hansen and exposed to “put them in the wood chipper” rhetoric.)
