The Degradation of Music

The idea that 80s rock was OK is lamentable.

The corruption started in early 20th century when classical composers started producing jewish "music". Then Jazz came along straight from hell, abolishing all form and succumbing to improvization (i.e. being temporarily possesed by demons). Then, satanic Pelvis Cringley appeared "from nowhere", creating a whole new genre of music "completely spontaneously", corrupting the youth even further. Then, rock bands like Led Zepelin and the like sealed the deal and started preaching satanism in the open.

It was never OK. I know it's hard to accept.
I want to also add that two years ago I went to a concert of a punk/metal band I've listened to growing up, not to mosh but to observe and the striking conclusion I came to was that instead of going to rock concerts I much rather just go to liturgy. There is no longer any point in going to these venues. While I might play something of the sort at home sometimes, I'm very selective. I'm not interested anymore in 80% of my audio archive.

First, I absolutely love the mixture of Eastern Orthodox and metal/punk aesthetic. The authors and artists blend them together flawlessly. The art alone is reason enough to check this thing out.

Furthermore, this is a fascinating zine to read, and it blows my mind that Eastern Orthodox monks made a zine for teenagers who were into metal/punk music. I hope it generated some interesting dialogue and discussions. It’s great that two communities — often seen as averse to one another — could have some type of communication.

To Elvis' credit he recorded a cover of Crying in the Chapel, and a song about the Rosary prayer. He wanted to meet the FBI director Hoover, and went to Nixon to offer his services in monitoring the Beatles, who he said were corrupting young Americans. To smash the competition perhaps, lol? OTOH, father Chad Ripperger, a Catholic priest says Rock and Roll is bad for your soul, one popular conservative Polish commentator said more than a decade ago Rock music was bleh, it didn't vibe with him. There won't be any Rock and Roll in heaven, no sex either, many things we do here don't belong in the glorified realm, if you're of the monastic mindset, it's easy to detach yourself from it all already.
