Spain has been outperforming the rest of western Europe, I'm not sure if the laziness stereotype holds.

100% their numbers look great. I was referring more to actual work ethic. I loved working in Spain cause of the 2 hour lunch breaks, getting to work 30 minutes late with no repercussions and unwillingness to criticise employees for mistakes out of fear that they might go on long term sick leave due to psychological trauma.

But, as you said, the results speak for themselves and the numbers look great.

This is true in my experience.

"closing the borders" as an EU country is quite a misnomer, since you don't really have a final say over that. Ukrainian migrants are coming in through the land border in thousands too.

As to why they're making it happen, probably a mix of EU pressure and serving corporate interests for the economical benefit of the government itself.

Ukrainians are mainly atheists and Christians. There just haven't been many issues with that kind of migration. And I doubt there will be anytime soon.

At worst, the women end up as prostitutes, while the guys get involved in some kind of organised crime. None of that is great, but it's not as bad as rape gangs and demanding sharia law.
