So today is going to be a good day and I'm up early for it because I can't wait to get rockin.
I've been getting my ass handed to me over the past year or so with pretty much everything business. Don't get me wrong I'm paying the bills and turning profits but I lost a business a while back and have been having a hell of a time trying to replace it.
My uncle bought the corporate many years back of a large salon franchise chain just to fix the problems and turn it over, which he did successfully. He knew nothing of the salon business it was just an investment the company needed better management which my uncle is a master of, that's a much larger story. But in the process of this he developed his own line of hair care products to sell in those salons instead of selling random other products, smart move. During the sale he negotiated that the product line still belonged to him as well as exclusive rights that salons had to sell his products for the next 10 years at minimum.
I do e-commerce and my uncle being the great man that he is always trying to do anything he can for family knew that I had lost my other business and offered the e-commerce side of the products to me. Well finally yesterday everything was finalized and I'm free and clear to start selling the products. They are already in demand and have huge profit margins, they just never had an online presence before....until starting today. It's a very easy no headache small line of products with an already established market and customer base which I can easily expand as the products themselves have an excellent reputation and presentation, they contain ingredients that are sought after.
Been in a slump for the past year or so with nothing going right for me, looking like I'm about to bust that very soon.
Just wanted to share, type it out. I keep things like this and my life in general very private in real life, I swear sometimes I feel like I share more on this forum than I do in the real world because it's easier and of no consequence. So yea....hope all of you brothers have a good day today as well!

Okay boys I could use your input again, it's always well appreciated we have a solid contingent of men around here not internet weirdo losers. The input of the men here I take to heart.
Today I went over to my uncles warehouse where the hair products are manufactured as I need product now on hand at my place. It's my uncles partner some chemist who is a good guy might as well be family to me and my second cousin who run it in there, they are like mad scientists in there always formulating new stuff with the raw materials.
Today they were working on a beef tallow based skin care product and I want it. They're not producing it under the hair care products brand they are making it for "influencers" to put their own names on it and push it. I hate that crap but I recognize it can be a good business model but I told them why would they bad split the profits and let an "influencer" get the foothold on the market while they do all the work, we should push it under our own brand it doesn't matter that it's not hair care crap....we already sell a beard oil what's the difference. Our packaging and presentation is light years ahead of any other product on the market it doesn't make sense to give it away at small margins, whatever influencer is going to kill them on profitability because they won't incur any of the overhead and will want a big cut.
Beef tallow crap is hot right now, what do you guys think should I go above their heads and take it up with my uncle? My uncle will listen to me above them 100% I know that and I'm not worried about my relationship with these guys because they are family no matter what so it's not so much about that, I'm going to ultimately be putting money in their pockets. It's just a matter of it will be a bad look if it doesn't actually do well.....you guys have any thoughts on a beef tallow based skin care product? It will obviously have other beneficial ingredients we use all organic stuff and it's good products but the beef tallow would be the hook on this one.

I prefer leadership by consensus whenever I can achieve it, but sometimes it's not possible. Sometimes you have to go with your gut and overcome the doubters who you can't swing over to your point of view.
I'd try to get the chemist and your cousin to agree with your approach first, then go to your uncle. Tell them that you want to put your idea in front of your uncle, but you'd rather have them on the same page with you. This might be enough to sway them. If they think the uncle will likely go with it, then they will come around to agreeing with that approach too.
If they won't agree with your approach and you still think your idea is better, then go to the uncle without them.
Why not try both ideas? Use the influencer and promote it solo. See which does better and run with it.
Yea sounds great let's do both, but they are dead set on the influencer model which I don't quite understand. It's actually why I was able to take over the e-commerce, my uncle got tired of waiting around on them to generate revenue. They are just trying to hit home runs all or nothing, well you can get on base and score runs too....
My uncle wants to sit down with me next week I'll bring it up, it's not really something where I'm trying to go above them it's my uncles company he put the money down and pays their salaries, it would be wrong of me if I didn't present every side of it. If I can put money in everyone's pocket there isn't anything wrong,
Never worked in sales so won't give You a professional advice, but a general one - don't be the guy who goes behind someone's back. Set up a meeting with Your uncle, and let them make their case. Voice Your concerns. Question their ideas. But do it in the open, and let the person in charge (Your uncle) make the final call based on the arguments of both sides.
Yea good advice I'm thinking to just meet with my uncle at the warehouse and have the guys there. Mind you none of this contentious we're all in it together, I just want that product and I don't believe in the home run influencer model like they do. To me if you can generate revenue then do it, it's not as if we have some ground breaking product it's just quality stuff at good margins to me we should put it out there not try to be cute with it.

Got an axe handle from my buddy (known each other since kindergarten times). One of 4 he got from his mother. She got them from her uncle before he passed who hand made them, and had passed them on to her because he didn't trust them to anyone else. Now I have one.
Anyone have any recommendations for a quality are head to put on it?

Looks good, hardware store axe handles aren’t going to have a nice profile on them like that. That’s a serious handle, maybe the guy who made them spent a lot of time with an axe in his hands.
You’re in Canada right? These guys sell hand made axe heads that would probably top that off nicely - depending on the size of that handle. I think all these heads are mid sized.
