I'd hate to be stuck in that tangle with the engine unable to run, waiting for rescue vehicles who can get me out of there. Trying to walk out looks impractical. Prayers for comfort and assistance for these people! It is 9 degrees there right now, and just getting full dark.
I kept gaiters and snow shoes in my car when I was driving in snowy areas, just in case.

That pileup was far out on the west side of the state, we had crazy winds and squalls today this after a nice little storm a few days ago that wasn't actually forecasted at all. It's supposed to be crazy windy and deep in the negatives all week.

I like winter. Well, I like all the seasons and wouldn't want to live somewhere without them. I don't mind shoveling snow either, but this is just too much...

I lived in Northern Illinois in the famous winter of 1979. I had experiences like this.

I remember ducking under a certain branch as I walked the packed snow path to school every day. In the spring when the snow finally melted, that branch was over 3 feet above my head.

I had a growth spurt at the time. I probably grew 6 inches that winter.
