It just goes to show you how advanced the modern economy is that in first world countries 20% of the population (people doing productive jobs e.g. builders, plumbers, fruit labourers, etc) is carrying the other 80% of the population (non working people and people doing unproductive jobs e.g. HR, NGO workers, management consultants, etc.) and yet our standards of living are still very high by historical standards.
I think it’s mostly 500 million westerners being supported by 2 billion 3rd world IMF slaves that produce everything we need for $1/day, as long as the CIA keeps their dictators in power.
