Stopping to try to force people to cross in front of you is super obnoxious. These drivers think they will throw out the rules of the road, and issue new rules with telepathy, and maybe some hand waving from behind a tinted window.
They need to just go like they're supposed to, and let the other person cross the empty road behind them.
I totally agree. However, there are certain situations where the courtesy goes to the pedestrian, like where you’ve stopped at a stop sign and you wave a person or persons waiting on by, or where someone’s kind of partway in the road already. Just depends on the situation.
I’m pretty aggressive as a pedestrian crosser, and try to hurry past if someone stops for me when I know I need to (eg rushing on a crosswalk where the light is about to turn green or perhaps crossing on a smaller street in between oncoming traffic when you need to be somewhere). I get the same courtesy from other whites when the situation is reversed. When it’s a nonwhite/non-oriental, I’ve seen them walk right out when the light has just turned green and make all the cars wait while they mosey on through the intersection, looking at the impatient drivers like they have a right-of-way.

It's a "pedestrian has the right of way" entitlement mentality. They think they're going to get a big payday if they get hit by an oncoming vehicle. Never mind that they might have life changing injuries.

I see a guy walking around with a cloth mask on, which at this point is sun-bleached and covered in grime. I am not sure what his logic is because that thing sure looks like it carries more germs than anything else around
