After several days of observation and consideration, jesusmansion has been permanently banned. Even if he isn't a glowie, he clearly has no interest in being a good-faith member of the community. At best, he was only here to promote his bizarre communal living experiment, which our membership was not interested in. His further presence here thus served no purpose.
I know that this means something but no idea what. On one hand I can’t fathom that the alphabet organizations/ glowies are being run by someone so inept.

Damn, just a few days before I was ready to sell it all and begin my wandering skateboard ministry across the globe.
[I remember back when I was in high school some goofy kid petitioned the church for money to go overseas and start a "skateboard ministry", and that is what the JesusMansion guy reminded me of]

Praise and worship nights during Catholic Eucharistic Adoration often feature soft-rock acoustic music that I really don't enjoy or find appropriate. Its very swoony and feminine in my opinion. Gregorian chant is really the best option.
As a kid I found youth outreach in the church to be quite cringy and overbearing.

I like some upbeat Christian music and actual Christian Rock, but you're right it can feel cringy and try-hard in church or youth groups. My church is pretty strict to only using old hymns, meaning Protestant type hymns such as "Rock of Ages" or "Crown Him with Many Crowns".
However, when I was a teenager, I did like to sing higher energy choruses in youth group, like "Lord We Lift Your Name on High", which was originally by Petra. That song is not really what I would call rock music. It is lite rock at the most.
I have been to churches with worship bands. The problem I have with most contemporary worship music is that a song will have 25 words, and repeat them over and over for seven minutes on the same song. Also, the more recent Christian music tends to have nearly monotone melodies. If they would just have shorter, non-repetitive songs with catchy melodies, I would be fine with it. However, as it is, I much prefer my current traditional hymn singing church.
If I listen to harder Christian rock, I figure I can do that at home or in the car.
