What kind of bird is that, and what kind of flock? I'm guessing lambs and sheep. Can a bird this size be a threat to a lamb?I've killed so many of those with my .22 protecting my flock back in the day, such beautiful birds I hated doing it but they are ruthless.

I don't know why I was thinking sheep. Even though you can have a flock of sheep, they're not a likely target for hawks. A flock of chickens makes obvious sense.I'm no expert but looks like the same red tailed hawks I've encountered. I had chickens in what seems like a lifetime ago, I eventually added some monster geese and never had any predator problems again. Wish I had done that from the start...

I see red tail hawks like that all over the Midwest, sitting on top of telephone poles along country roads, watching for their next meal moving around on the ground.
Now raccoons on the other hand, I don't regret killing a single one of those bastards and I wish I had killed every one on the planet. What they do goes beyond just being the circle of life, it's almost like they're conscious of it and enjoy it.
