I'm so old I remember when phone calls were the primary way of distance communication, and then texting came in and replaced most calling. It can be annoying at times, but mostly it is very convenient and useful.View attachment 26756
Texting is among the most aggravating and anxiety inducing modes of communication ever conceived, probably second only to emails. It is unnatural, often convoluted, lazy, and demanding. Cripples communication skills.
Trying to decipher a poorly written text to craft a response can be one of the most mentally exhausting, frustrating, and time-consuming exercises in modern day. Texts have created unnecessary tensions between the sexes and misinterpreting a text has likely ruined relationships or caused needless embarrassment. Massive stressor and time suck not worth the “convenience,” and it has probably made all of us dumber (we never have to remember directions or anything essential from a conversation, and grammar is sloppy to nonexistent).
My life was better without it.
The most useful texts I receive are from friends arranging a meeting. Short and to the point. Any time someone attempts to have a conversation by text it turns into a mess.I'm so old I remember when phone calls were the primary way of distance communication, and then texting came in and replaced most calling.
