I agree with that. But a seven week extension at current levels we couldn't even get. The filibuster needs to be eliminated for all budget bills and resolutions. Now the threat of a filibuster blocks bills as if it is a filibuster. Make the obstructive party actually stand there and continue to speak if they want to block legislation. Senate rules need to be changed to account for this hyper-political environment we find ourselves it. These rules are stupid, Senators are protected by a six year term that should be adequate for them. Besides, for the most part Republicans don't want to cut spending anyway.
So you can use reconciliation which requires only a simple majority vote to pass a massive omnibus bill but you can't use it for a simple seven week budget extension resolution? Makes no sense, change the rules.
