I would be surprised at this. Nigeria has something like 230 million people, and is far too large for the US to attack effectively. There are murderous Muslim rebels in the north, but they are elusive and you could never achieve anything substantial against them. Trump would be smarter to avoid this completely.

Apparently yes, Islamic groups, there were apparently some videos of the Nigerian Christian villages celebrating this, yes I know USA most probably also has other motives behind it too, we arent stupid, Nigeria is also an oil nation so this is almost a flex in my opinion towards other nations, especially China that USA will come all the way to Africa, its like a warning shot, its also keeps the rest of the world on their toes to start taking Trumps words more seriously.

Due to the war in Iran and the closing of the straight of hormuz and the other channel through Yemen also becoming risky, maritime trade will most probably pass through the Cape of good hope in South Africa once again as it did in the past, the western world might help make some territories in South Africa independant states through succession (possibly) sometime in the near future, South African government is also an ally of Iran making it a potential target for Israel and America.
