Recently I have been working on fixing the permissions on the forum. This was necessary to address numerous problems where people were able to post in certain areas they should not be able to, or were not in areas they should, etc. In one case we had someone report that they somehow had full moderator privileges (oops). So I went through and fixed all the permissions from the ground up.
Also as a result of this process I have decided to make a change which has been long discussed and speculated about. For a while now women have been allowed to reply or react in some areas but have been generally limited in their ability to post threads and fully participate in the site. We have talked about changing that and I always planned to explore the idea but never quite got around to it. Since I had to redo all the permissions now seemed like a good time.
This isn't actually as big of a change as some might think. At this point we have less than a dozen active women. The men's only area will remain as such, and of course the religious areas will still be limited to their respective faiths, trolls in the troll lounge, etc. The main difference is that women will be allowed to post new threads and replies in the "general" areas. We can consider this as an experiment, for now.
I understand that some people will disagree, some will agree, some won't care, but I can't please everyone. However I have thought about this for a long time and prayed on it and I believe it is the right decision. This site is dedicated to Jesus Christ, and I believe that all people should be able to participate in Christ. I expect everyone to behave in a dignified manner and all will be held to the same standards. I suggest we try to think of this site like a Church, and act accordingly.
There may be further announcements from the moderators regarding how they plan to enforce rules of conduct and stuff, but I just wanted to give everyone a heads up. The mods have my full support to deal with anyone who breaks the rules or tries to cause trouble. Please report any issues if something seems to be wrong or broken with the site. Respectful and constructive comments or questions are always welcome.
Thank you. Take care & God bless.
In Christ,
Servant of Christ
