This forum has three tiers of ranks. The highest is Heirloom, reserved for members who have been active since the RVF 1.0 days and whose contributions are unquestioned. The second rank is Heritage, given to posters who joined in the later RVF 1.0 period or during RVF 2.0; they have also contributed significantly and are considered reliable. The third rank is Remnant, which applies to those from the RVF 2.0 era who have not posted or contributed enough to earn full trust. As for CIK members with no RVF history, unfortunately, they do not receive a rank.
A Remnant member, PurpleUrkel, has demonstrated his worthiness for promotion by consistently contributing high-quality posts to this forum. As shown in the screenshot above, he has surpassed the 1,000-post milestone. Given this achievement, I believe it is time for the moderators to consider elevating him to the rank of Heritage.
Some might wonder—who cares about ranks in an online forum? This isn't the military. However, in RVF 1.0, ranks such as Game Denialist, Chubby Chaser, Wingman, International Playboy, and Innovative Casanova were used to reflect a member’s contributions and earned trust. As members engaged more with the community, they advanced through the ranks. In RVF 2.0, the ranking system changed, but the concept remained the same, with titles like Chicken, Kingfisher, Pelican, and Cardinal serving the same function.
Ranks also serve as a badge of honor. In RVF, members who financially contribute to the forum's operations earn the additional rank of Gold Member, while in CIK, this rank is called Philanthropist. These titles serve as social proof, and members proudly display them alongside their avatars.
My suggestion to the moderators to promote PurpleUrkel to Heritage is not only a recognition of his contributions to the forum but also a testament to his readiness for greater responsibility, including access to the elite private forum.
He started the CIK 2025 Meet-Up thread, yet he cannot view his own post because, as a Remnant, he lacks the privilege to participate in the restricted forum area. Promoting him to senior member would resolve this issue, allowing him to contribute to his own thread. Additionally, when he finally meets up with other members, his promotion would serve as a recognition of his reliability within the community.
This post by Cynllo suggests that promotions were originally intended within the forum. However, until now, no promotions or performance evaluations have ever taken place.
I sincerely hope the moderators will consider PurpleUrkel’s promotion to Heritage. Thank you.
P.S. I believe several members are strong candidates for promotion, including
@thinkreadwritecode,
@Northern Pilgrim,
@Psiman, and
@Shaquilleoatmeal. Notably, Shaquilleoatmeal remains completely unranked!
