Water is also critical. It stopped working in some areas. Both water and sewers will stop working without electricity. In some poorer areas at least some videos on social media show people making queues for water. But no chimp out.
If there´s a structure. And guidance on the actions to put forward things will not degrade to chaos. There might be petty criminality and hardship. If the state breaks and lunatics fill the void. Then it´s a problem.
Non europeans will be the biggest hassle. If I were in command. The first thing would be to send police to monitor the neighboords with more immigrants.
The radio is really important. And will buy some today. It´s the most important thing to have. Some old mobile phones had radio independent from wifi. This new worthless pieces of garbage had nothing. I had bought during corona a small mobile solar power charger. But you can charge your phone in the car. And after had some budgets to install a small solar power battery to service the kitchen fridge and cooking stove backed up by a small diesel generator. I don´t want to put a big solar system which will catch fire sooner or later.

The outage was suppose to affect all Europe. This is not an internet rumor. Electricity blackout affected all Europe. But other countries managed somehow to avoid a severe blackout.
It´s normal to have blackouts of electricity in your street (because of constructions or rehabilitation of power lines). Even at a local level. But a continent???
Supposedly the backup generators didn´t work in Spain and Portugal. All countries have the equivalent of generators (hidric plants, etc) to back up the production and at the same time they cut the supply to more intense energy consuming industries to balance the needs with the output. But there were minor disruptions in all Europe. It´s known people in Belgium had their phones off for a while. Which was what I was told.

I think this is wishful thinking. It's similar to the "unvaxxed sperm will be worth more than BTC" talk. Western women simply don't care about these things. It only matters to women who already live in rural areas or are unvaxxed themselves.

I was in Europe when this power oitage happened, I must say that South Africa is FAR more prepared than Europe for power outages because we have had YEARS of power outages and we (the private sector) have built alternatives, I was shocked that transport and some airports didnt even have a backuo generatir where all our malls, banks, cellphone towers and ATMs in South Africa all have backup power, we can still function its business as usually its only the big manufacturing companies that cant operate you can run it off solar, offices can still function with solar and generators.
People were still quite chilled they were all at the beach etc but they are not prepared for this at all like we are in South Africa.
