First do a few push ups and light calisthenics exercises, then rest. Then say and recite the Jesus Prayer a few sets, then pray with your own intentions, then take a a cold shower, after you're done getting dressed call up a friend or love one on the phone and have a good conversation with them to see how they're doing, then go to a coffee shop or busy interaction and say hi and chat up you see who is friendly etc....this should warm you up for the event. Anyone here has a better plan than this? lol

The book How to win friends and influence people is pretty good for knowing some of the basics when it comes to this, you don't want to be manipulative so you gotta read it with a good heart and coming from a good place obviously. Taking up a Yoga or martial arts class is also a great way to make friends.

Avoid yoga completely, the poses are in praise of all the avatars and forms of demonic Hindu deities, nothing good to gain from it.

Where does mantra chanting come from then? The Jesus mantra? Hindus have been chanting mantras a lot earlier than orthodox christians have. But yes, you have a point there buddy, do what your comfortable with and what you believe. Anything that gets your way of spiritual growth and relationship with God you should definitely abandon.

The Jesus prayer is obviously good. Non Christian mantras really can't be considered the same as a Christian prayer.

As to mantras, I don't know how much of the future God had shown the angels who later fell, it's possible they saw that form of devotion and could have successfully incited their own worshipers to redirect these as inverted/perverted rituals to praise them instead of God. I've heard our guardian angels had been shown our whole lives before choosing whether to serve God by standing beside us, or rejecting our sinful persons and being condemned as a result.

Common sense tells me the basic poses everybody begins with have significance in Hinduism, why would a Christian do that. It may be as fundamental as the Lord's Prayer to us; newer additions by enterprising masters who must keep the student occupied probably not. Do not proceed with caution, turn around. It doesn't mean the devil will go after you instantly, but you have cracked the door open. I'd stick to the beneficial methods Europeans, or Asians have had for millennia, free of any spiritual baggage.

This is one of the first search results I got:

The Warrior II Pose, the second of three poses that reenact a series of brutal murders

I know this is getting off topic but before I converted I dabbled in Yoga classes, in Asia led by Indians, I once experienced a powerful internal vibration during what I assume was some kind of prayer segment they conducted at the end (I couldn't understand the words). This was in a setting that was ostensibly secular/exercise-centric, not an ashram or anything like that. One of the few times in my life I've ever directly experienced something preternatural and I never went back, particularly because even as a new age spiritual type, I got a very "off" feeling from the leaders of the class - they definitely weren't up to anything good and shady motivations + actual spiritual forces = bad news.
