Late December 2024 - Finland seized "Eagle S" in a similar spectacular fashion for her role in a cable cutting incident, only to release her 3 months later.


Another tanker, the "Kiwala" was seized by Estonia in April 2025 for sailing under false flag in violation of UNCLOS, only to be released the very same month.

And here's a fun fact - "Boracay" just seized by France is the "Kiwala" under new name, flag and owner.

The vessel, which changed its name to Boracay or on some shipping databases Pushpa in December 2024 was previously named Kiwala. Ships keep the same IMO identification number throughout their lives but do change names. Estonia released the Kiwala in April 2025 after detaining it for sailing without a valid country flag.

While I think there is a lot of truth to much of this and your instincts are correct @magoo, I think it will take a lot more than this to provoke any sort of meaningful response from Putin. The so called leaders in the west may think they want war but I don't believe he wants it and it will take some rather serious lines being crossed to get any sort of major excuse for full-scale war.

The ship’s captain and first officer (both Chinese nationals) were temporarily detained, but released after questioning - the captain will have to appear in a French court at a later date.

In the Kiev region the TCC tried to mobilize someone's cat. After social media backlash the cat was returned to its frightful owner.
Murchik the cat, stolen by the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Kiev region, was returned to his owner. Drunken soldiers took the pet as a gift for a child. After a scandal, they promised to return him if the video of the theft was deleted.

Normally I think wild boar is delicious, but I don't think I'd want to eat meat from a wild boar that had been feeding on human corpses.
