The H1B Thread

I'm in IT on a kush long term remote project. Our laid back white male manager is retiring next month and is being replaced by an H1B Indian woman. Anyone have experience working for an Indian woman? I'm in IT for 31 years but have never had an Indian woman manager.

I'm thinking she will want to micromanage every minute of my day. He retires on the 11th then she is going to India for two weeks on the 14th. Go figure.

Probably become a nightmare. She will likely overcompensate and make everything more difficult and time consuming. I hope I am wrong for your sake, but I would be working on your resume if you need to continue working and be ready to leave.

Depends on what kind of woman she is, better than an Indian man I'll tell you that much....I know that may be surprising to hear. She may be one of those Indian women that hates her own kind because she was treated like an animal her entire life by the males in her culture so she reveres and prefers anyone who isn't Indian, I've encountered a lot of those in professional dealings. If it was a guy you're 100% screwed, every Indian guy is just compensating for being Indian and will take it out on you. Worse than that he wouldn't do it directly he would do it backhandedly like a sneak coward, your best buddy to your face but secretly resents you because you're not at the social disadvantage of being indian.

I can agree with that. Working for Indian men is the worst for exactly the reasons you laid out here. She is taking over multiple projects so I'm hoping will be so overwhelmed that she won't be paying too much attention to this one.

About ten years ago I was working at a major credit card company in their Information Technology group. This company was in the habit of hiring Indians because they were cheaper. We had a phone interview with what is known as a "ringer". They answered every technical question perfectly. They got the job. Problem is that is not the person they sent to work for us. Not the same person and completely useless. They lasted a couple of weeks and was let go. The Indian staffing agency didn't care because at least they managed to bill for a while and generate revenue. The American companies will continue this game endlessly because they lack morals and the bottom line is always about money.

This is just incredible. The tech industry is replacing Americans with Indians right out in the open. Brazen.



I don’t think these people realize what they are doing. You might be able to get away with replacing lower paying jobs with foreigners for a period of time, Americans don’t really want to do those jobs. But when you take away all the good jobs, give them to foreigners and remove the possibility of upward mobility for young Americans? You are f_ing with something you will never be able to take back.
