Thought I saw ufos last night. Turns out meteorites can burn green.
I'll be honest, I had trouble with it. The country has become such a joke and laughinstock.
I'll pray for the US, but this holiday just doesn't resonate with me like it used to.
I bbq'd 10lbs of filet today, 5lbs of hamburgers, 6 Cornish hens, two packs of hot dogs and some salmon that my sister wanted. My mom and sisters made all the sides, twice baked potato's are my weakness.
My dad sat on the couch and yelled at us to bring him food.
Probably don't have to cook for another week.

It’s just interesting that with USA so many brave American soldiers had to die in a war for them to get independence and in Australia we just sat and waited until the British gave us independence without a drop of blood being spilled

As for covid that is already past but even on that front America might have been a little less bad then us but it was still pretty horrible and there were far better countries in the world to be in than USA during covid.
Yes Australia was a prison colony. All different types of prisoners came to Australia from those who stole a loaf of bread due to starvation to those who were imprisoned for not repaying their debts and violent criminals, etc
My point is that it's demonstrating a different type of national culture.
Americans fighting 2 wars (1776 and 1812) to keep independence demonstrates a different cultural mindset over those who wait to be relinquished....Vs the Australians on the other hand who were given independence due to parliament in 1901...
Fireworks in my neighborhood were much more limited than what I'm used to seeing. Normally every third or fourth house seems to have fireworks, including big mortars. Fireworks are usually pretty regular in the weeks leading up to the 4th, and then it sounds like a war zone on the actual night of the 4th. I haven't gone to a town fireworks show in about 15 years because the fireworks in my neighborhood are better.
I am living in a new neighborhood, so that's probably a factor, but I would have expected my new neighborhood to have lots of fireworks like my old ones. However, it was pretty quiet. There were people shooting off mortars a block or two away in 4-5 directions, but none on my street at all.
I'm not sure what's different. The heavy fireworks in previous years went right through the period of covid with no decline. If anything they were heavier, but not by much. We've had heavy fireworks for years. Seems like not as many people were in the mood this year. Maybe they just had less money to blow on fireworks?

If You're living in a liberal neighborhood, this could be their way of protesting. Buddy of mine lives in a liberal town up in New England and he told me that the locals didn't do any celebrating because "muh evil king Trump".
My whole state has gone blue in the worse way, but I think my neighborhood is a little more purple than most parts of the metro area. It still went for Biden, but only by a small margin, whereas most of the metro area went for Biden by a big margin.
Still, that could be it. Maybe they're all mourning the passage of the big, beautiful bill.
