The point you are missing here is that Iran can lob missiles on Israel anytime it wants. They still have a large stockpile, and will replenish older missiles used with new ones that are even harder to stop. If NYC were under missile fire or just the possibility of that, real estate price in Manhattan would collapse, businesses and HQ would move out, as would many residents. And I wouldn't call 1 ton warheads "tiny", or downplay the kinetic force of large metallic objects making an impact at mach 5 or above.

It's the other way around, he threw a big bone at Iran, prioritizing a ceasefire.
I agree the psychological effect of destroying a tiny fraction of the city would be strong while the attacks lasted, but as soon as they were over people would realize everything was still largely intact.
Not flattened into ruins as some have said.
Cities are so big now, and setting off a couple hundred 1 ton bombs will not flatten them.
Before the Israel Iran war US could pressure Iran directly and China indirectly through sanctions.
After the war US can no longer use this power.
Israel actions meant the loss of a power by US.
Another way to see it is that this would be the first time in many decades that a POTUS told off the Israelis. The neocons in Washington are furious. This represents a major gain of power by the US over their biggest parasites.
Which neocons? I think it´s the opposite of what you are saying. Neocons are praising him. I just posted Jeb Bush twitter saying exactly this. Trump was the first president to cave to Israeli pressure in bombing Iran. No other president did it before him (there was some navy fight in the 80´s Praying Mantis). Bush refused to bomb Iran.
This is a ceasefire. A really weak one. Reports of drones sent by iranians against Israel are already being mentioned. This is not a peace treaty. Israelis will most likely force US into a real war. Jews are crazy. North Korea called them a cancer.
There are also reports from fake news CNN of a leaked document showing how US didn´t fully destroy the nuclear facilities. This has only one goal. To force US back in. Finish the job.

I think this was the best explanation of things to date, Trump performed a semi-theatrical conventional bombing of Iranian nuclear facilities that set them back a bit but didn't take out the program in order to placate the neocons and preempt an Israeli nuclear strike on these sites (click on text below linked to my post above) :
