What Does The Word "Archon" Mean?

I've heard contradictory definitions of the word "Archon." This alone is cause for concern.

But what does the word mean? David Icke uses the word to describe reptilians. Some also say it is related to The Prince Of Darkness and hermaphrodism and that Archons have the faces of "beasts" (Wikipedia). Some (The Greeks) simply say it means "ruler."

Seeing as how the term/title is used here I'm wondering what the true definition is and why we are using it here?

It's being used in this context. Of course, that's exactly what I'd say if I were a reptilian, I suppose.

Deferring to @Samseau on this one, as I had the same question. The Greek definition appears appropriate here. I assumed that based on common EO use of title Archimandrite.

I always figured Cynllo or one of the other admins stuck that title up in a moment of whimsy, and it stuck.

It's obviously a Star Trek reference, and in turn a play on Return of Kings.
