His point was that the Jews would have deemed Jesus to be an adulterer for it was considered scandalous for a man to talk to a woman in that cultural context, especially a Jewish man talking to a Samaritan woman.

I don't think it matters. Those who wish to take Luther out of context will. Those who will read him in context will. All will be held to account.
