I have read many posts here and elsewhere trying to learn about the schism, but I feel this video has helped me gain a more comfortable level of understanding.

This video explains it well in a nutshell There is another good video series its about 9 parts, its on youtube, called "Finding the church that Jesus built" it goes into great detail and it was a series Brother Augustine recommended for people who want to learn about the Orthodox church.

There is another good one on youtube thats just about Christian artwork, from the early church and then it shows the great difference after the great schism and it will really make you see the big differences in Orthodox art VS Roman Catholic art. Its called "the history of Christian art through iconography" I will share the links now in the Orthodox section.

So the reason why you cant post or comment in the Orthodox or Christian section is because of your current religious status, I cant post or comment on the protestant sections for example because Im Orthodox but if I post in the Christianity general section then then the "other" Christian sects may all chime in.

If you enjoy the art video then try and get father Seraphims book called the Orthodox survival coarse, the title doesnt do the book justice, its just a book about the history of the world but through the eyes of the Church, he writes some really good stuff about art work and how the art usually is reflection of the society we living in, for example he talks about when we started painting self portraits, disfigured and twisted images, paintings of demons and dark figures like Goy did during his time, at the end of the book he also talks about music and how music was at one time on the world basically traditional music, obviously its not that today and what it means and where we going.
