The Iran and Wider Middle East Thread

I wonder if the Dems think starting a war with Iran will cause voters to rally around the flag and vote for Kamala? I would say they might actually have that poor of an understanding of what people think.

Blinken got back, and he made it sound like he tried to talk Bibi down, but Bibi is going to go ahead with whatever he has planned and basically blew him off.

I don't think anyone in DC wants this right now, but Israel just doesn't give a damn and is the real boss.

It seems that no one is paying attention to the fact that Iran and israel are bombing each other right now. I'm not the only one to notice the yawning.

Iran reporting the shot down all enemy missiles and the fires are from destroyed rockets falling from the sky. I doubt we ever know for sure. Maybe Israel was just testing Iran’s air defense system.

There's no reason to believe in a 100% interception rate. Doesn't matter if it's Israeli/American or Iranian/Russian, there's no such thing as wunderwaffe - every defense can be breached. And Iranians themselves admit, they received some damage and lost two soldiers (Army not IRGC).

As for the Israeli attack. We know by now, that they used 100 fighter jets, launching missiles from Iraqi airspace, in 3 consecutive waves, as well as some drones and decoys. The first wave targeted Iranian air defense systems, and while it wasn't fully successful (there's more than enough footage of AD at work) they still managed to hit at least one position - hence the Iranian Army casualties. The next two waves, reportedly hit missile and drone production facilities, but it's hard to tell how hard - we'll have to wait for sat photos to know how many facilities were hit (Israelis say 20) and how bad the damage was.
