Something that stood out to me was how she says that she wants to "[feel] unconnected to this pregnancy". Absolutely disgusting and horrible.
She's trying to tell herself that it's not a baby, but a fetus, in her womb.
Exactly. A funeral would humanize the "fetus". This way she can suppress the pangs of guilt brought about from her own conscience.
The little girl is still in touch with her conscience and knows it's wrong. The mother also knows it's wrong, but she has probably spent years burying her conscience as far down as it will go to try and avoid the judgment of God. The mother knows that's exactly why she's avoiding the funeral. And that weak, spineless husband is even worse because it's his job as a man to set her straight. Absolutely disgusting behavior.
If you made these into a series of commercials, you would stop thousands, if not millions of abortions. Imagine this brought to screen, with a high production value, during a brief time slot for Super Bowl halftime? It would be seared into the brains of anyone who witnessed it, especially the women. The shock impact would be like witnessing a murder.
