This news broke this morning and it’s a bit much for me to wrap my head around. These are two separate nba officials busted for gambling, organized crime is involved.

Here’s the gist of it
The case is large enough that’s it’s difficult to gauge the fallout. So far 30 arrests. Gambling, sports betting, fixing games(both nba games and high stakes card games)
Sports betting was legalized in recent years, and the World Series and Super Bowl and nba finals are all “brought to you by draft kings!”
I’d be surprised if all of this is limited to just 2 coaches and 34 total arrests, it’s a breaking story
Edit best guess is maybe someone in the nba got busted for gambling and named everyone they could think of.
Gambling on sports using these apps has become commonplace. I don’t know if this will lead to some crackdowns, or it will have to get a lot worse first
Edit 34 arrests not 30
Live updates: Dozens charged in illegal sports betting and rigged poker games tied to the Mafia
Chauncey Billups, Portland Trail Blazers' head coach, and Miami Heat guard Terry Rozier are among 34 people arrested over illegal sports betting and rigged poker games backed by Mafia.
Here’s the gist of it
The head coach of the Portland Trail Blazers and a player for the Miami Heat were arrested Thursday, along with more than 30 other people in two criminal cases alleging sprawling separate schemes to rake in millions by rigging sports bets and poker games involving Mafia families, authorities said.
Portland coach Chauncey Billups was charged with participating in a conspiracy to fix high-stakes card games in Las Vegas, Miami, Manhattan and the Hamptons that were backed by La Cosa Nostra Crime families. Heat guard Terry Rozier was accused of a second scheme to concoct fraudulent bets by exploiting confidential information about NBA athletes and teams. Also arrested was former NBA assistant coach and player Damon Jones, who is charged with participating in both schemes.
