It's just that Emmanuel Macron took off his watch during an interview :
There is a lot of speculation going around that the watch was worth €80,000 so it was not really politically appropriate, although that is just a rumour which is also refuted :
So not sure what the truth is here but it is a bit suspicious.

If he were truly wearing a watch that expensive then it would confirm that he is well disconnected from day to day reality.
I could see why. But to be honest, I would expecting him to be sporting a decent watch, he's the president of France. At least he isn't playing star trek wearing an Iwatch.
