Art Thread: The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly

Good thread idea. Worth time dwelling on beautiful art.

Meissen porcelain is just excellent. The factory was destroyed during the Dresden firebombing, I believe many of the workers killed, and a great source of craftsmanship was lost.

Handmade porcelain flower petals. Hundreds of them.

I'm no porcelain aficionado (Meissen has a little family story for me), but these items are beautiful and make me happy. Imagine the work it took to make such a beautiful thing whilst enduring grey German winters. I hope it brought the workers joy.

After the war, a factory was rebuilt, producing "Dresden" porcelains. No disrespect to the new craftsmen, but the Meissen products are more to my preference.

It's a humiliation ritual.
Even for black people it’s humiliating that a fat ugly no name woman is who gets to represent them. I think black people would much rather have a Muhammad Ali or Michael Jordan statue or something rather than this eyesore. The equivalent would be like representing white people with a Greta Thunberg statue.

I never said this doesn't apply for black people.
