The Trump tariffs

Trump's main focus is China. And there has to be a reason why he is going after Hollywood.

To understand how much influence and control China has in Hollywood films, check out an investigative journalist's hour long documentary called "Hollywood Takeover: China’s Control in the Film Industry".

Tariffs won´t adress that. What your talking about is foreign investment in Hollywood made by western enemies. Those are made inside Hollywood. Not outside Hollywood. Only putting capital controls to foreign investment would change it. Which should happen. There´s a lot of soft power in regulatory agencies which can be used. Making a list of countries which directly or indirectly couldn´t invest in Hollywood companies.

But jewish influence and the complete hollowing of christian influence is the main reason of Hollywood downfall. Jews are greedy fucks who only care about money and destroying christians. And it shows in movies.

Trump order is useless and counter effective. Combined to Alcatraz is nonsense. I laughed when I saw alcatraz. Still laugh when I think of it. Just the costs must be astronomical. But you got to admire the man for having balls. Even though it´s completely misguided. A guided Trump could really turn things around and make real damage to globalists. Unfortunately either he is too old. Dumb. Or lacks any quality staff.

Seems that a lot of US retailers are storing goods in bonded warehouses, where they can be stored for up to 5 years custom free. From there they can either be imported officially or be shipped out of the country duty free. So they're speculating that the tariffs will be lifted within that time frame then! There might an investment opportunity here? There's a rush to book space in these warehouses, that have limited capacity. Companies like Forward Air Corporation (FWRD) own a lot of these warehouses near major trading hubs/ports. Not giving investment advice here, but maybe worth looking into?

Brah things are collapsing so hard and fast in China right now they've stopped publishing hundreds of economic data stats:

Normally countries can just massage and fake stats to make themselves look good, but things have become so bad it's impossible for China to show any good news. So they just censor it all and hope no one will notice. This is to keep the public from panicking most likely. It will work for one or two months but soon the tens of millions of unemployed will become impossible to hide.

I understand your point but the video is worth watching because it does a thorough job of analyzing things from a historical perspective to better understand where we stand today.

China is always "collapsing" according to some people! I think this is a very minor storm that they will weather easily. Are they feeling it, yes, but the Chinese are much tougher/less spoiled than are the typical western citizen. They can handle it much better. And China doesn't have the burden of democracy (whatever that means) to deal with.

I think white Europeans are more capable people than most Asian groups all in all, but China is not gonna bend a knee to the US. Blaming everything on China is just the Trump admin version of the Dems blaming everything on Russia! The problems in the US are internal, and blaming the world is just another distraction ploy from the chubster in charge.

Zero hedge assumes that shooting films ‘outside America’ means overseas but a lot of movies and TV are actually shot in Canada. Looks like the US, costs half as much. I know Vancouver offered incentives to production companies. ‘The last of Us’ is shot in Vancouver and area.

I’m guessing you mean twice as much and not half as much?

If China was suffering so much then why did the US reduce tariffs? Why not pressure China even more? Maybe because it was the US that was more under pressure from this?

I could also mention that prior to Trump's initial tariff increase in 2018, the tariffs where generally much lower on China's end, less than 5 percent estimated. It would have been better if he'd never done anything!

You aren't paying attention. Trump "lowered" tariffs to 30%, that's still higher than where they were before this all started.

It's like tripling the price and then offering half off. This is called a sales gimmick. Trump just got China to accept higher tariffs with virtually no downside. China gets to look like they saved face because it's not 145% tariffs.

Had Trump started with 30% the Chinese probably would have been just as upset and unwilling to budge. But now they are happy with 30% and looking to negotiate. Textbook Trump 101 Art of Deal negotiation.

What's amazing is that low-info people like yourself, who aren't paying attention, think that Trump got "owned" or whatever, lol. It's just shocking at how easily people are fooled by these sales techniques.

You realize that this means higher prices for US consumers right? It's a tax increase. Products that can't be produced competitively in the US like clothing, electronics etc. will go up in price if this persists. Tariffs apply when the goods reach their port of call, not when they leave for example China. Besides that, I thought the goal was to get China etc. to lower their tariffs on US goods? But they where lower before Trump started all of this in 2018!

Would be interesting to see if that 30% applies on Chinese EVs, which were tariffed at 100% by Biden, then Trump. At 30%, their EVs would still be very competitive in the American marketplace.

The most important thing right now is to have American consumers buying more American goods. The 30% tariff on China will help increase that. Most of our goods will be for the domestic market so a 10% tariff by China isn't a huge concern. Our imports will decrease more than our exports.

Realistically there are many things which should never be made in America and never will be. Some high end manufacturing can return to the USA and the goal with the other stuff is to reroute it from China to friendly nations which engage in fair trade e.g. buy your t-shirts from Bangladesh instead of China if Bangladesh agrees to give you a fair reciprocal trade deal and you can export stuff like John Deer tractors etc to Bangladesh.

Good. I'm in the junk/recycling business. I sell used Made In USA goods from the 1940's to the 1990's when we (and Japan and Germany) made the best clothing, electronics, furniture, and tools in the world. This will make the demand for my stockpile of vintage and antique union made in USA goods and textiles go up in value. And do you know how much of this stuff is out there? It's too late to jump in the game now but I've been stockpiling USA made craftsman tools, 100% cotton/wool/mohair/cashmere/angora clothing (everything now is a blend sprayed with chemicals), electronics, and hard wood furniture for a decade waiting for these offshoring chickens to come home to roost. To hell with the made in China Walmart paradigm invented by the traitorous "Christian" Walton family who got in bed with the atheist commie Chinese government to make a quick buck at the expense of the high skilled American worker. Christians are no better than jews when they adopt jew greed and get rich quick financial schemes that reward bad behavior.

Americans are just going to have to atone for the easy years of buying cheap Chinese crap by paying more for higher quality, longer lasting made in USA products. The adjustment curve will be steep and painful but you reap what you sow. The good news is that Americans will have to tighten their belts very quickly and cut back on their addiction to over-consumption and mindless consumerism.

Nonsense, all can be made in America cost-effectively especially with automation.
