Cars You Guys Are Into

This is a tough call. Cuddling with your wife in bed, or backroads hoonery with road beers?

Edit: That Q45 doing burnouts looks pretty nice. I looked this up, and while they had plain styling, they were pretty powerful and sporty. The Q45 was discontinued in 2006, so these are old and cheap to buy now. Looks like a lot of fun!

The Q70 replaced them. They are available with a 420 HP V8, which claims 0-60 in 4.9 to 5.0 seconds. Some tests got as low as 4.7 seconds! These cars have sharper styling, but they are newer, so they are more expensive. I wouldn't mind having a big V8 luxury cruiser that can do 0-60 in five seconds!

Let me explain my position: Its a 20 sec clip.

BULLSHIT.

chinese cars cannot be used in Europe without a lot of safety changes made to them. They are basically shit.

German cars are the still the best. In a 10 year ownership a Mercedes is cheaper than a lexus to own. Even with more repaird. Lexus is petrol not diesel. At least in Europe. Mercedes steel.

When I was in China AUDI were the most wanted by the elite.

I dont hate chinese. What I dislike is the fake image you and others want to make of chinese or china. I make deals with them and understand they are different. They are inferior. And ive never been scammed by them.

Have you been inside or driven any recent model Chinese cars? When was the last time you were in China?

No man. Why would I do that?

I have only owned german cars until now. Drove a 458 ferrari for a while also.

Might change my Mercedes to a newer version. Currently checking reliability etc. The problem with this old mercedes is the motor runs smooth. But all other gadgets need replacement because of old age. And it does get tiring.

I doubt will ever buy a chinese car. I dont trust chinese. Americans you can half trust them. Chinese zero. Not even enter a chinese car if i can. Much alone own one.

begining of 2010 decade. When everybody was there. Before winnie destroyed chinese image and economy.

I also have owned mostly German cars and one Jap, I hear you. But if you travel a bit, you will eventually get into a Chinese car for an Uber or cab, as I did recently, then you can ask the driver about his car.

i dont trust chinese. They always have an angle. They only behave if they have something to gain. I could buy a toyota. The new prius. If it wasnt so gay. For now probably change to a glc Mercedes. Maybe. Will see. Chinese brand would be the last option I would ever take. Would rather ride in an african car.

I'm not going to ever buy an indigenously-produced Chinese car simply based on their Engrish marketing. I'm not going to own a WangChung X69 80085 SmilingDolphin.

Also, Chinese cars have bizarre styling - they are either facsimiles of Western or Japanese models or indigenously-styled and look odd.

The best-looking Chinese-market cars are joint venture models, namely SAIC-GM ones, namely Buicks and that's because of GM influence in the styling department.

Naturally, this will evolve over time as Chinese firms develop a styling language on their own. I should note I'm differentiating between the design/engineering aspect of producing a car and the styling aspect. China has only recently been truly styling cars indigenously, i.e. 10-15 years max. Any industrialized nation can at some point produce a car, but to style one is different. An example is Russia, a nation that has proven able to design and engineer a car for 80+ years, but simply cannot style one.

All of their cars were copies of French, American or German models. Russia relied on reproducing or stealing western designs with some modifications to the chassis to withstand their roads and environments, a lot of technology was transferred under the lend lease agreements, their GAZ or UAZ trucks were studabaker copies, when the production methods changed in the 60s they had a hard time adapting but the Italian communist party leader Togliatti helped them restart their auto industry by directing the FIAT corporation to show them how it is done and the factories in Stavropol which was renamed in his honor started producing Ladas which were just stripped down FIATs with reinforced suspension. Citroen also collaborated with the eastern block.

Come to think of it, the Lada Niva does look a bit FIAT-ish:

If the Lada Niva were available here, I would have loved to buy one.

The Russians are good at building utilitarian, no-frills reliable products like that Niva, AK-47, Mig-21 or the T-34, part of their soviet heritage, and the harsh climate conditions. Most of these are military products, partly because they have only had two decades of post-communist development, and before the war had the Dutch disease of being able to import products due to their large exports of natural resources.

China cars didn't even make it anywhere on the list:

The Most Reliable Cars:
The Japanese lead the way with Toyota.

This is a ranking of reliability in the US auto market. There are no Chinese cars in the US auto market. Duh!
And? They are unreliable pieces of shit in any market you chose.

Bmw i4 has good reliability rankings. Might give it a better look. But electric cars…

Your banker neighbors UBS did a thorough evaluation recently on the quality of Chinese EVs, and found out that they were a menace to European automakers due to their quality and price. Renault's CEO is also quoted as being impressed.

Really? the UBS guy said that. Damn. Where is the nearest chinese stand? Is it painted yellow? Can I buy a yellow BYD. Or are they all sold out?

Looll. Dude you make a lot really a lot of wishful thinking mixed with childish propaganda. You seem too smart to be a yellow. So most likely you married one? You work for yellows? Yellow company? If china becomes the 1 world power she will dump you. Wanna bet? It´s a façade man. Yellows are never to be trusted. Anyway.

Someone praising a chinese car. I´ve f seen it all.

Actually this broad I knew (she is euro but a museum curator in China) once took a picture near a chinese supercar in stand and the car looked nice. NIO EP9. It´s probably a knock off of some EU/US brand. But at least it doesnt look like fast and furious japanese car. Thats a nice looking car.

The BMW I4 is ok. Will ask for a test drive. BMW seemed to be going back to quality cars. Their 2010 cars were worthless shit. Mercedes just saw a post of a guy who says just to change a led you need to buy the entire light. 1500euros. F them. A friend of mine just ordered a Tesla Y. He has 2-3M on Tesla stock. But never owned one until now. Expected deliveries in 2028. Teslas are not bad.
