Cars You Guys Are Into

Bringing this one back for all of you car guys out there.

What was your first car, what do you drive now or what do you want to buy?

I'll start. When I first started driving my family had an Accord wagon and a Grand Cherokee V8, both '94s. My senior year of high school I bought a '87 Nissan 4x4 truck, loved the crap out of that thing. Tooling around in the mountains with my buddies was a ton of fun back in the day. I'll always have a soft spot for 80s/90s cars and trucks. Recently I've been driving a '23 Grand Cherokee rental for work while my regular company rig is in the shop and it's brought back memories of that old '94 GC my family had that I spent a lot of time riding and driving in. Kind of want to find an old '90s GC to pick up as a second car to drive around in on the weekends.

Yep, they don't make 'em like that anymore. Body on frame rear wheel drive V8 land barge with leather sofas inside. Man, it was nice. Bought one in the early/mid 00s in my senior year of high school. They were cheap back then. Everyone wanted Mustangs and Eclipses and Integras. Needless to say my vintage luxo-barge stood out a bit. Now they're as rare as hens teeth. Drove it for a few years then made the rookie mistake of letting my girlfriend at the time drive it one day and she crashed it making a left turn. Still hurts to this day haha.

^ Oh nuthin' much, just the most iconic muscle car ever made. :)

What's the name? And do people keep these running by refitting them? My understanding is classic cars tend to only be able to go several miles before shutting down.

1968 Dodge Charger? But the one from the Peterson video has a very nice finish.

1994 Dodge Viper. Bought it new when I was a young man. No nav, no ABS, no cruise control, no windows, no door handles, no cupholders, and best of all -- no network/satellite comm. systems for snooping on me.

V10, 8.0 Liter, 411 horsepower (insane! power in 1994), 6-speed manual transmission, side exhaust, 14/22 mpg city/highway, AM/FM Cassette player.

After driving the car 1300 miles this weekend on a trip with my wife, I rolled the odometer over 131,000 miles.

Every kid from my generation had a poster of one of these in their bedrooms. Incredible machine you've got there. They'll never make another raw performance machine like that again. Just a giant torque monster engine on a roadster chassis. No BS anywhere on that car. Very cool that you've actually used the car too instead of stuffing it away in a garage somewhere.

Thanks! There are 5 generations of Viper between 1992 and 2017 when they ceased production. At the club event I attended this past weekend, there were 17 Vipers. Mine was the only 1st generation car there.

Parts are hard to find and there's a lot of brittle '90s "K-Car" plastic in the interior, so it's a challenge keeping it running and on the road, but it's a fun hobby that continues to get me from point A to point B.

Other common questions from budding enthusiasts I encounter:

-- "How high does the speedometer go?" -- 180
-- "What's the fastest you ever drove it?" -- 170 ("never again!")

Awesome, a living room on wheels.
I can't see any rust on it, which is also awesome.
How many horses are in there and how old is it?
