Donald Trump

You're only thinking about white collar jobs. Sure big tech will either outsource the jobs to India, or find some other loophole. But it will end the Indian takeover of blue collar jobs - truckers, warehouse workers, etc.

The next step is to tackle the call centers. Everyone jokes about single mothers, but with today's technology and persistent hi-speed internet, there is ZERO reason for companies to not pull from the deep pool of US-based potential phone bank workers of single mothers, retirees, college kids, those looking for gig work, those with physical and limited mental disabilities, even recovering addicts in programs and homeless can benefit from the additional income, can work flexible hours that fit their schedule/desires/limitations, feel empowered by contributing to American society, and - the greatest benefit - I can UN. DER. STAND. the person at the other end of the line.

I feel a lot better about an American trying to scam me for extended warranty coverage on my 40 year-old Buick than a gupta.

If nothing else, this will lower the cost of living for anyone in the United States. The more Indians that get sent back to India, the cheaper the rent is in the United States. The cheaper the real estate will be to buy a house
I wouldn't bet on that. Whether the landlords are private, property management types, slumords, banks, or large scale developers, the precedent has been set and not one of these types is going to want to receive LESS money every month than they were getting. Especially if there was a demand before (Indians who commonly live many to a place) and still is (hispanics or other similar types known to live in similar manners).

Unfortunately the latter. Conceptually I agree with the premise of incremental progress being a victory. But the reality is that we’re out of time, and incremental progress isn’t actually a victory at all.

It’s sort of like being in the 9th inning, the home team is down by 45 runs, you’ve already got two outs and the last batter has two strikes but manages to foul off a pitch. I guess you could call that an incremental victory.

This appears to me to be a crumb to satisfy the ever so easily appeased base. I would not be surprised to find out in response to this that there are some new nonprofits formed with some very generous and anonymous donors that keep the flow a comin’. And I won’t be surprised to find out out the ultimate source of that money comes from US taxpayers.

I know you think I’m cynical and I understand that, as you’re someone with bountiful optimism. But I’m looking at this as if we’re all employees and the boss has been embezzling money from our retirement funds, and you’re the guy who gets all excited because you got a gift card for your Christmas bonus.
I don't think this is the end of the crackdown and am expecting more in the space.

I truly suspect that in other Anglo countries it's literally based on race. Pajeet ok, good German man no good.
The thing is, the H1Bs are uniquely Indian. You'd think if no US citizen is available to fill an open position as H1B supposedly addresses, then suitable candidates could be found from countries around the world. However, nearly all come from India. There are a small percentage from Canada, but those are all Indian as well.

Whatever the intent of the program, it has been used in practice to flood the US with Indians, and to replace American workers in jobs.

Ai does most/ all of the call center work

I have tons of experience working with Indians. Some are excellent, but generally they are not on par with American workers. Even at 1/6 the cost it's not efficient and the churn rate is very very high.

Frankly it's mostly cultural. They don't take risk and don't make critical decisions with out someone telling them.

With that as the baseline, you can replace tons of these Indian jobs with AI as both require programming and while one costs money for hardware and IT, it's more reliable over time once programmed vs the Indian worker model in New Delhi or wherever ....

Trump mentions that he hates his enemies. This was from the Charlie Kirk memorial

I’m curious who exactly is he thinking of here? Soros?(and his son)? Mark milley(former join chiefs of staff who was calling China after January 6)

Maybe Adam Schiff for the felony prosecutions?

I doubt he hates Kamala or Biden or even Liz Cheney as they are empty suits

Who is his biggest enemy?

In my experience the work is terrible, shoddy at best. Their defintion of an "engineer" is bascially someone with a high school diploma. So when they graduate 500k engineers/year (or whatever) take it with a huge grain of salt.

I"ve seen the pattern, outsource to the much cheaper worker, they produce terrible code that isn't adaptable. If it's not specified in the SOP, it won't get done. So on top of bad code (and usually undocumented code), you will have mounds of technical debt - which will usually require rewrites if the code is decent, if not, then you have to pull it all and start over. I've been tasked to "fix" this a number of times and the best way is to laugh to keep you sanity. A complete waste of time and money that looks good only for the current PM or whatever C-level.

My guess as to why the new $100k fee isn't retroactive is because of the lawsuits. It's easier to just grandfather in old contracts, than to punish them and face myriad lawsuits that will tie up ICE attorneys who could be used to gang members and illegals.

I found it curious that he used the singular for his own case and the plural for Kirk's. It does imply only one person or organization.

I think he means it in the plural, but he's paralleling the Bible's language. The verse below has enemy in singular the first time, and plural the next time, but both really are plural I think.

Matthew 5:43-45
“You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be children of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.

This is getting interesting.

Bondi is terrible.

Trump's ego might be getting us towards some vindication.

Say, if Trump really wanted to go after these people then why doesn't he DO IT already?

It's always talk and empty threats, seemingly to placate his redneck base and make them believe he is "draining the swamp".

Why does he make a point of sending a public message to Bondi, when he could just tell her in person? The way I see it it's that he (or his handlers) want to make it seem like he is actually doing something. And also to defect the blame when nothing happens.
